Wreck, Ed Sanger can be still be found in the stands today, his stories make you forget about the racing, lol. I was at a WDRL race in Superior Wi. and was talking with the promotors and when I told them I was from Iowa they told me how impressed thet were with Ed, one year he wrecked front end of his car in the heat, they thought he was done but he worked on it, started in the back but ended up winning the feature. Many other stories about the Silver 1000 in Proctor too. Truly a legend.

Ed Sanger 1984 World 100, believe this is the car he built for Bobby Allison to drive in the Miller 100 at Hawkeye Downs, this was a very dominant car.

I believe it was the first lernerville 100 lap late model race. Anyhow, this guy shows up from Iowa, that alone got everone's attention. But more so than that , this was a time that everyone had big blocks under the hood. Here comes ed Sanger in with a small block, well I'm not sure how he did or finished but a lot of guys switched over to small block power the following year. If memory, ha, that's funny. Bob Wearing and Clate Husted had everyone on there feet. Wearing was none as Mr. Invitational. But boy Clate had his number every time I saw those 2 go head to head.

Wonder what track he's on? Looks like plenty of bite in the track. And maybe that strange wall too!!I'm a copycat wetter... 😎

I saw this one at Paducah once though at a NDRA race. They called it the Yellow Canary at the time. It was very fast, as the driver usually was too.
A year or two later the concrete grandstands actually slid down the hillside onto the track. Anyone remember that?Last edited by Clayton_Wetters; 04-30-2020, 10:16 PM.I'm a copycat wetter... 😎
