Best Race Fuel for a Dirt Late Model - VP, BASE, or another brand?

Saw a post on social media about BASE causing engine damage.

Effective immediately, we will no longer be carrying or associated with base fuels. Multiple engine builders and customers complaining about engine damage from fuel.

Bobby Pierce switched from BASE to VP last year in the middle of the season.

Like you and I with food, every engine likes one fuel better than others. Experiment and you might find out.

We don't have that over here on my side of the state 😂

I wish we did. My jeep would gain about 100hp just by switching fuels.

Compression ratios as high as the are now days, you have to be very careful, detonation is very close with the best fuel.

Compression is power, pure and simple, but $$$

I think most of the Top Teams nowadays are on VP, usally in the 116 octane region. Late Model Plus they call it i believe. There are other factors than octance rating, but thats overly techincal.

We generally out here are on Sunoco race fuels which work fine. Used to run the old 260 pump stuff back in the day. Run VP on occasion with no problems. Can't get Base but generally most race fuels, in theory, should have little difference. Waaay back my dad had a new Dodge that would barely run the couple of times he put Texaco in it although my cars ran OK with it so there was obviously some difference in the local pump gas.

Im a VP dealer so ill say them, sunoco is good too. The way the base owner flipped out a few years ago on people over his logo made me realize ill never spend a dollar on a base product. To be fair most of the dirt world knows very little about engines and tuning one for weather and regional changes, compared to drag racers

That whole deal was weird. Ive seen where several wrap companies will not even print his logo because he will send them a cease and desist letter in the mail if it's not the "right color."

I've sponsored cars and had our logo slightly altered or colors changed. Never once did I care. That whole base logo debacle was stupid.

The logo itself is outdated and stupid.
Where is the move over flag when you need it?????
