You may be right as I'm not sure the Longhorn is stiff enough. There are a lot of "bad ones" that get sold quickly. The rocket is well built, by today's standards.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

Amen! Not a race engineer but I am a mechanical engineer with experience way back in GM's antilock brake and traction control group. I read so many misconceptions about physics and at the end of the day it is all about physics and only physics. Dirt tracks are a different beast but forward speed and cornering is still primarily longitudinal and lateral tire forces. As I say I am not a race engineer but my mechanical engineering and controls system background tells me the springs and shocks are the key as they are the control mechanisms for the tire contact patch which is the primary force generator acting on the vehicle. Of course there are aero forces at work but I would think those are not chassis dependent. As long as the chassis is sufficiently rigid such that it does not offer its own stiffness and dampening characteristics it is shocks, springs and tire compound determining tire forces. Now the other thing at play is steering geometry with caster and camber but I would ask one of you guys that know these cars, which I do not claim to, do the mount points on the various chassis prevent certain steering geometry from being accomplished or is there enough adjustments that that is a moot point? That's exactly what it is. Apple of tubes formed and welded together. It's a place to bolt all the parts in the location you want them. The logo does nothing for how fast it goes. The wheel loads and alignments are all there is.

Let's face it weather you like it or not bp is possibly the best driver in the sport right now when it comes to shear ability to make speed in a racecar. He was competitive in his dads cars and they were very behind the times from a core chassis design standpoint. I don't think it's fair to compare when he drove for dunn-bennson because their are alot of dynamics at play in that situation that are not at play now. Theirs another thing that i feel has had a large impact on performance and that's the tire situation. The "new" nlmt tires are far more like a ump tire than anything else some might even say exactly like. That has played very well in Bobbys favor. I'm not blaming the tires for any given chassis/ driver combos not running well but their is no doubt that it has effected some combos alot more than others.Originally posted by jog49 View Post

Seems like some Longhorns are into the Indexing game, and some are not. Notice how O'Neils Car, and Thorton are always bobbing the LF slightly, their indexing the RR Cage is my guess.
LH really plays that game on the LR, almost to a over indexing point, its interesting, especially after the zero index fade, now there at the polar opposite.
Like MBR said, I do see a lot of LH's for sale quickly, seems like some just don't work. A word of advice, never buy one of these Race Cars, there next to being cursed, born to be slow...

I know for one thing, the 20RT still acts different on the track than other cars. Especially noticeable at Port Royal.

Sheppy’s never been consistent in his own stuff. His dad and grandfather tend to be their own worst enemy. Their management style of yelling and belittling help in front of everyone isn’t the way to build a winning team.
It’s even more important now that help is becoming harder and harder to find.
