With everything available now, noses/roof/etc, no reason they can't just drop the hammer. Take a weekend to put one of these bodies on. Everything straight and in line with crankshaft centerline. X amount of offset. Keep tires maybe 3" inside body to reduce hopping over tires. From carb hole to spoiler, FLAT. No deck slope. Both body sides STRAIGHT 7 flat! Be fairly easy to template. Put template over the scales. If it fits thru, maybe 1" variance on width, you legal.

When I say offset, not talking about the twisted sister crap we have now. I just mean, from carb stud to left side 36", from stud to right side is 46" or what it works out will fit the tires UNDER the body. Just shy of 7 foot outside of body to outside of body.

Just making the bodies straight, flat, and symmetrical would help a ton and not significantly change the look of the cars.

I agree. The suspensions setups would still have the cars all hiked up in LR but nothing we can do about that. Can't unlearn what's fast.Originally posted by Josh Bayko View PostJust making the bodies straight, flat, and symmetrical would help a ton and not significantly change the look of the cars.

Just wind the rules back to 2014. No big aero games, no big nose sides, very little rake in the nose, RF and RR were pretty much in-line, etc.

Carb stud is the absolute dumbest thing to measure. You can move the engine, roll the engine. Everything should be based off the rr wheel. When you make an engineering drawing, you use one edge to locate everything else.Originally posted by KTMLew View PostWhen I say offset, not talking about the twisted sister crap we have now. They were starting to get the rake in the bodies by then. I’d go back to ‘06 or soOriginally posted by Tireguy17 View PostJust wind the rules back to 2014. No big aero games, no big nose sides, very little rake in the nose, RF and RR were pretty much in-line, etc.

If it rolls in looking like a slant six Plymouth and nobody notices, more power to yeah. If going off RR, you saying everyone is running same wheel offset/wheel spacer/axle location? I'd say that is as variable as carb stud location.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View Post

Hardest thing about measuring anything is, droop chain loose? Droop disconnected? All shocks connected? Where do you measure to determine "level"? I'm assuming all cars have to be "level" whatever that means. If the engine is leaning to the left and chassis is leaning to the right...IDGAF. Make the body square and plumb with the old globe. With your way, every car would HAVE to be identical. I mean rear axle location, control arm lengths, etc. Unless you give lot a variance in track width. Last we need is 1.5 hour tech inspection.

That's a bunch more crazy rules to define. It wouldn't matter what the wheel offset was. You would have a max track width and again base everything off a common plane. Guy can run any offset he wants, body points still same distance from reference.Originally posted by KTMLew View Post

All you need is a reference plane. The carb deal is just acting like you want to do something.Originally posted by KTMLew View PostHardest thing about measuring anything is, droop chain loose?
