Get rid of the spoiler would be a good start....Shrink the noise, put it level with a shape that is not just a wedge. More off throttle time and the racing will drastically improve....

This is one of those things that every single sanctioning body has to be on board with all at the same time, and that's gotta be a pain in the a** in this day and age since there are more than a couple. I imagine the decision was a lot easier to implement in the mid 80s.

You are correct. In the mid 80's, everyone was trying to 'save local racing' and all came together because the sport realized they needed the local tracks to be successful in order for the touring series to survive. The cost to be competitive were growing and it needed to be reigned in; body rules, tire rules and engine rules. Even the guys with money saw what would happen and the biggest supporter of the 'new' rules packages had one of the biggest checkbooks (Johnny Johnson). Problem now is the guys with the money do not want the change, so no way it can happen. Times are different and we are in the new normal, not sure with all of societies changes the outcomes would be any different anyway.

Most everyone actually runs under a sanction of some sort now, so it's much easier than those outlaw days. That's how they have been so successful screwing it up.
