So what have we decided? RTJ is a has-been never was or Harry Gant is STILL Handsome Harry?

His car was coming off the bottom unnaturally fast at Knoxville.

I don’t think anyone is saying RTJ isn’t good. He is. But he’s not 2 tenths better than JD, Overton, Etc.

Think that’s especially easy to see now that he’s not winning every weekend by half a track.

Why has he dominated the last 2 or 3 years then?

I'd think be easier to learn how to run where RTJ was running on the track than beating the boards on the high-side. He ran the highline when nec but middle groove a ton. Why has that car gotten slower? Driver? Anyone seeing where I'm going here...

Yea, I see where you're going. You believe every driver should be able to drive the same exact car with the same exact setup and have the same exact results. As they say, if it were that easy everyone would do it. Both drivers will be winning for a long time to come, making comparisons at this point is just silly.

And that isn't driver. Shirley was faster at the end, with an engine running poorly.

Squirrel was letting it eat the entire race, I thought.

Still cornfused. Are we saying driver doesn't matter, it's all the set-up? Or driver can take a poorly set-up car and win. Or Harry is still Handsome Harry?

Still say Howe on mono-leaf springs with two Reese bars.

I always laugh when people say a given driver needs a better/more powerful engine. We used to kill em with a plug wire off.

5 years ago, you could win a decent amount of super races at small tracks with 600 HP. Those days are over. 10-12 years ago you could do it on decent size tracks.

The same reason Overton dominated one season. The same reason Sheppard did. The same reason JD did in 2015 and his Eldora million year.

Nobody stays dominant for more than a year or two anymore. Momentum is very much a thing, break that momentum and the dominance ends.

                                Yep..,..you're probably right.

If Joseph was in that ride it would be lights out for the competion.
