I went to a couple of Lucas races at Lawrenceburg and was very impressed with the facilities and other ancillary things from a fan's point of view. I was disappointed when Lucas took it off their schedule, my understanding was the drivers didn't care for the racing surface, does that sound correct? Both races I attended had good racing all night. It's pretty centrally located and seems like they could handle big crowds and large car counts, but maybe I'm missing something.

The previous promotor didn't do much track prep. It basically had whoop sections in the corners where the water would run down the track. The few late model races they had this year, the track seemed better. They did some changes to the track over the winter and I think it helped.Originally posted by Finnfan25 View PostI went to a couple of Lucas races at Lawrenceburg and was very impressed with the facilities and other ancillary things from a fan's point of view. ZYOUNG I have heard alot of drivers wont go there because they want the banking at Lawrenceburg cut down in order to slow the cars down and help with motors. I think the new promoter is on the right track. They only use half the track anyway there. Never really seen them get above maybe halfway up the track.

This event would be better unsanctioned & moving around to various tracks IMO. The racing at Eldora in the aero era is less than good most of the time. Be nice to see a mega show like this at a 1/3 or 3/8 mile sized track. Of course Eldora is in the best position from the ability to host an event that draws a huge car count. I'm in IL so would be biased to IL area tracks but the only ones I can think of with enough space would be FALS (maybe), Tri City & Pevely. FALS would have to turn a class or 2 over each day. Pevely has a ton of room with the kart track at the bottom of the hill.

It will not move to Illinois because 1) it would be away from where it began and would not get the WV, KENTUCKY, Southern Ohio guys. 2) UMP Nationals is running the same weekend. If anything it will go back to Pennsboro if everything works out great.

I realize that is most likely the case. Was just throwing out some options in the area I am familiar with. Agree on UMP Nationals it would make more sense to get that on a separate weekend. Although that event is a shell of what it used to be at Eldora. More of a glorified regional show. Especially on the late model & modified classes.Originally posted by latemodelman View PostIt will not move to Illinois because 1) it would be away from where it began and would not get the WV, KENTUCKY, Southern Ohio guys. 2) UMP Nationals is running the same weekend. Chathamracefan UMP Nationals used to be great. I wish they would pay $20,000 to win for late models, $1,000 to start and Modifieds should pay $10,000 to win and $500 to start and should be a 2 day show Friday and Saturday first weekend of October at Eldora.

I said once the DWTC went to Eldora that it would never go anywhere else. They gave Carl a great deal, enough to convince him to leave the friends he has at Portsmouth.Originally posted by latemodelman View Postafter seeing the entry list for divisions it will be at Eldora for years to come. The Steel Block Series director said they will have close to 80 there and an Eldora Official said even with the UMP Nationals they had 40 pre entered but expect around 75 for mods from what have called and they have 29 for stocks pre entered and they expect around 35 from what people have called and asked. As far as Super Lates they have said 65 to 70 is what Lucas has said.

Just think Eldora will probably get 10,000 people on Saturday and 5,000 will have 2 day tickets that are $60 a ticket plus $10 for a reserved seat or whatever and 2,000 will have a 3 day ticket. Anyway Carl Probably makes great money off of it and so does Eldora in the concessions. And Eldora can charge for t shirt and fair food vendors as well.
