89% of 2024 Lucas Oil wins from first two rows

According to a 4m member BillV99 and his page sprintcarratings.com, 39 out of 44 wins were from the first two rows in 2024, which is 89%, up from 84% last season.
Of the top four that made it to the "playoffs", all of Morans wins were from the front row, all of Davenports and O'Neals wins from the front two rows, and all but two of RTJs were from the first two rows.
The only drivers to win a Lucas Oil race from farther back than the first two rows were Bobby Pierce, Brandon Sheppard and Dalton Wilson once and RTJ twice.

Their format kinda sucks with no redraw. Fast time starts on pole of heat and then on pole of feature if he wins the heat. That and they run a lot of bigger tracks which in the modern day leads to more win from the front snoozers. Woo at least does a redraw after the heats that can mix it up a bit. Sometimes the fast guy draws pole but sometimes he draws 6th and has to work a bit more.

The Lucas tour gives the drivers/teams what they want, not the fans.

Well, bloomquist said in a rant after he won the title in 2008 “there’s no room for handicapping in this sport”

Bloomer was right. In redraws, at least one person, if not more, gets screwed. Same with the NASCAR BS being utilized by the LOLMS where three of the four drivers are elevated to the points total of the leader. Screw job, screw job, screw job!

I like the format the NE center steer modifieds use. Top 3 in each heat, usually 4, all pick a cap with numbers 1-12 inside near the flag stand. Can win your heat and still start 12th. Fourth through sixth{usually) start there in the main with everyone else to semis. Fastest guys still almost always win but it's sure a better show for the fans. Never seem to hear any complaints from the drivers either. Racing is about passing.

Correction: Should have said that 4-6 in the heats start from 13th on back.

So the drivers wanted the playoff format? I heard it was put to a vote with the option of agree or race somewhere else.

I don’t know of any fans who wanted the playoff format. Everything I have read or heard is critical of it. No need for NASCAR gimmicks, especially not when determining a champion.

I think it was during the sprint million they inverted 7 or 8 in the heats. None of those guys complained. It seems the fender guys are the only ones that have tantrums whenever the word invert is mentioned at an event.

The fender guys also don't have that bumper to push everyone out of the way during the one lane round the bottom feature.

The "fender guys" wouldn't bitch and whine like little girls if the cars they drive didn't have the bodies of Frankenstein and are so aero dependent.... Just another topic that contributes to the racing becoming a yawn fest - its getting old.

Be curious to see what the percentages would be for late 80s early 90s series.
