There needs to be a standard coil over spring rule.no stack springs,no spring rubers.no bump stops or bump springs.no progressive springs.just one 14" 12" 10" 8" 4" per corner and one fifth coil spring.the tire rule was simplified, you worked onthe bodies some now take the magic away from the srings...no coil over covers this would be the easiest rule to enforce!!!! Also put a shock body min length rule on the rf corner...
Lucas oil,woo,dirtcar spring rule?

Springs and bump stops aren’t expensive. You can build any shock to do what you need it to. A rule change like this would obsolete pretty much everything everybody already has and force them to spend more money.
The bodies need reining in and the rest of it will scale down in kind.

Completely agree with raining in the sheet metal bodies. Make them bodied square again and not have the left rear quarter shifted over a few inches. Even though I do believe a spring rule could help the cause. There is a big difference in a soft spring vs a stiff spring and the LB's that each are rated at.Last edited by HoosierDirtFan; 10-27-2024, 11:25 AM.Nathan Stephens

Why do we need this? That is exactly the way the sanctioning bodies think when they write the rules, we gonna save you money and make racing simpler.
Now instead of buying 2 $100.00 springs available anywhere to make a stack RF, guys will call a spring manufacturer and have some made at $5000.00 each due the only wanting a couple of them.

Why? What are you trying to accomplish? They are racing wedge cars and you care about spring stacks?Originally posted by crownman25 View PostThere needs to be a standard coil over spring rule.no stack springs,no spring rubers.no bump stops or bump springs.no progressive springs.just one 14" 12" 10" 8" 4" per corner and one fifth coil spring.the tire rule was simplified, you worked onthe bodies some now take the magic away from the srings...no coil over covers this would be the easiest rule to enforce!!!! Try to make it easier for the little guy to be competative .The people who do not have a enginer a spring smasher and the time and money to rent a race track at test. This would take away the advantage teams with unlimited funding.Do you guys not want any small time drivers and teams be competative at lucas and woo races? Why do you think no small time guys even attempt it?The old saying keep it simple stupid!!!!

Stacked springs and shocks are not what is stopping the 'little guy' from competing. They aren't out there anymore (at least in the southeast), no weekly Supers to run with the big series. The shock and spring 'magic' is already spread across the industry, no way to put the genie back in the bottle; at this point it would not matter anyway. Fix the bodies, get rid of the huge aero and you will see better racing (same cars will win); prep the tracks and you will see better racing; bring back trophy girls and $1.00 beer and you will see better, well, the world would just be better....

I'm not saying this to be an azzhole as I have no idea your history in the sport but if you really think that will save money and allow lower dollar local or regional teams to be competitive your wrong and that's the short sightedness issues the rule makers have when writing rules.Originally posted by crownman25 View PostTry to make it easier for the little guy to be competative .The people who do not have a enginer a spring smasher and the time and money to rent a race track at test. This would take away the advantage teams with unlimited funding.Do you guys not want any small time drivers and teams be competative at lucas and woo races? Why do you think no small time guys even attempt it?The old saying keep it simple stupid!!!!
As I have said if they wrote that rule tomorrow (obviously depends on how they write the rule and it's wording) but I can say for sure that tomorrow I would be having springs made. Just the RF spring alone would cost more then I have in all of the springs I ever owned in over 35 years of racing. This could also cause new frame to be needed build to maximize the rules so sure that saves money (a new xr1 frame bare unpowdercoated is 11,500.00 now). The ripple effect of this could have long list of things that needed replaced or redesigned due to rule change and thus could cost way way more then anything I listed.
Then I would need to resmash every corner of the car that was effected by the rule (or pay someone if you didn't have a smasher), then need to rent a track and test anyways to find the balance back cause depending on rules your not going to get it 100% like it was before the rule but semi close but still needs testing to fine tune it.
Part of the reason you don't see small teams go to many of those national races is purely cost. I can tell you just cash out for a weekend (show me 100) for us was 4400.00 and that's not wear on motor (10.00 a lap) and don't have paid crew and used the same 4 tires all 3 nights unlike many big teams.

There not interested in the "little guy"...Originally posted by crownman25 View PostTry to make it easier for the little guy to be competative .The people who do not have a enginer a spring smasher and the time and money to rent a race track at test. This would take away the advantage teams with unlimited funding.Do you guys not want any small time drivers and teams be competative at lucas and woo races? Why do you think no small time guys even attempt it?The old saying keep it simple stupid!!!!
Big Sponsors, TV Coverage / Live Streams is what makes bigger profits.
Some Dude in a 1990 Rayburn making the show is not profitable.
These are for Profit Buisnesses, not charities.
Just say no...

There's only 1 thing stopping guys I help from running as good as they used to. It's the grip in the car from the aero loads. Engines that used to win can't win now. I guess I'll say 2 things. These new style tires are no good once they are used. It costs too much to keep your rubber fast.Originally posted by crownman25 View PostTry to make it easier for the little guy to be competative .The people who do not have a enginer a spring smasher and the time and money to rent a race track at test. This would take away the advantage teams with unlimited funding.Do you guys not want any small time drivers and teams be competative at lucas and woo races? Why do you think no small time guys even attempt it?The old saying keep it simple stupid!!!!Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

Nothing. I already have as much as we can use. That's the problem. Not enough power to use it all.Originally posted by riddle28 View Post

Used to be opposition would start pedalling in the heat races. So you pass some then and get more in the feature. Now, they don't slow down until the feature and they are harder to pass because of the aero wake you fight.
If you are on floor with the loud pedal and not spinning, "maximizing aero" isn't doing anything.
Now you'd never get Morans car to load in a std width bumper pull enclosed trailer, but that's not our current problem.Last edited by MasterSbilt_Racer; 10-29-2024, 07:52 AM.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing
