The first problem is comparing sponsorship of a dirt latemodel team to nascar. Their is no national tv package that comes with the dirt latemodel i also doubt that any of the nascar teams are demanding more money as a result of running well. Getting more money and expecting more money are two completely different things. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Bp races 100% off sponsorship their is no car owner wether him our his mother realize it he needs his sponsors far more than most any other national team. Landers doesn't need a single sponsor it just helps offset what comes out of his pocket same goes for most other national teams. Hoker can probably write off nearly 100% of what he gives bp but that is irrelevant their are dozens of other tax vessels he could use to avoid giving that money to uncle Sam. All of those big sponsors and little sponsors matter far more when things aren't going well and while i truly do think bp is a generational talent and we're watching him make history just as many did with purvis, bloomquist and moyer. Their will be tough times ahead at some point

First off, I did not compare this to NASCAR, but you can bet your @ss NASCAR teams receive more money for performing well. If you don't think sponsoring a top 2 driver in the sport gathers more dollars than a sponsorship of someone like Brent Larson, you are delusional. The first place you saw Hokers name was on Bobby's car, sure he has added several others since, but he came to be known by being on the side of that 32 car. Jeff likes to be associated with winners and that costs him alot of money. It's not for you or anyone else to decide what Bobby collects for sponsorship. Sounds like he felt he needed more and Jeff didn't feel it was worth that. That's between them, but since one side decided to post their side to social media doesn't mean that's the whole story. There's a reason that we didn't get a story from RTJ or SSI about what happened.... it's none of our business.

#1 a business can only write off so much very minimal. #2 if said driver doesn't like what I offer to sponsor fine there's plenty other drivers that will GLADLY take that said Money #3 if said sponsor helped you out in the very beginning an now your doing well an want to crap on sponsor I'd be mad to that's not loyalty

So since Hoker sponsored Bobby for years, Bobby is never to ask for more money... noted! I'd say you're letting your emotions dictate your business decisions. Remember, from what we know, Hoker has ended a friendship/relationship because they do not agree on a dollar amount for a business deal. You have not heard Bobby bash Hoker because he wouldn't pay more. We are not hearing that Bobby screwed Hoker out of anything, we are hearing they didn't agree on terms.

Just my thoughts as someone who has watched drivers and sponsors. Loyalty works both ways.
I've seen some car owners or drivers have a sponsor's name on the car even if they were not paid because the sponsor had a rough year or two because that sponsor had always been with them.

But, some grab the sponsors money and switch up sponsors as often as they change tires.

Some sponsors are easy to work with and have their teams back. Those seem like the dream sponsors to me.

Others want their names on as many cars as possible for their own reasons. My guess is the better chance to stand in victory lane photos and stroke their egos. But, it is their money, their choice.

Some sponsors also act like they own the team or own the drivers. These are the type that I don't care for much. Personally, I don't know how much money they give people but that has to be quite frustrating from the car owner or drivers point of view.

There is a reason why business entities have contracts. If Hoker is going to provide BP with significant amounts of money, why wouldn’t you protect your “investment” on who and what types of other sponsors BP can have on his cars?

Also, I am sure Hoker has to increase his prices from time to time. Do any of you think that none of his long time and loyal clients haven’t requested maintaining the lower charges? Do you not think he has never said no, this is the price and he has lost clients? Are they going on social media and whining?

He could have, but I think I remember hearing an interview or reading an article about how he got involved in racing and I want to say his son got him started going to races and when he was interested in becoming a sponsor his son suggested Bobby Pierce. I could be totally wrong, I'll try to find where I saw that.

For a few businesses, they may be getting value commensurate with what they are spending by advertising on a race car vs some other means of ads. I imagine that is a fairly small # tho & the tax deduction merely provides them an avenue to participate in a sport they enjoy at a "discount" provided by the IRS.
