Flo needs to mix things up

I hate the “shout outs” as well.
Send the pit reporter to the pits during the downtime instead of seeing commercial break on the screen.

I'd rather watch guys beating sheet metal or Danny White change a carburetor or even someone's 5 year old scraping mud instead of the current wasted downtime.

I think they take the social media criticism too seriously.

That's my only gripe. You don't hear the NASCAR announcers complaining about stuff some losers wrote on the bathroom wall.

Like you, I really enjoy listening to Dustin & Ben. They are true professionals. But after reading your post, and seeing just how many events they cover during the year for FLO I tend to agree with you. Not a knock against them, but maybe it is time to add some new voices to the broadcasts. A Flo employee who I miss on the broadcasts is Chet Christner. He is one of the best. I know he is known for calling open wheel races, but I have heard him do many forms of dirt racing announcing. I would to see him come out of retirement for a few DLM races a year to change things up a bit.

I like them as well with James Essex my favorite, just don’t talk the guy from WOO Sprint Cars to come over, his voice is like chalk on a blackboard 👍

Maybe they could sub Rueben in since you all loved him so much lol I don't get burnt out on those guys cuz I just watch the highlights usually and spend most my summer physically at the track. Laporta is good, raudman is good.

Some of you seem to think these announcers are highly paid, interchangeable celebrities... While they do (and should) get fairly compensated for their broadcast work, they all have other ways to earn a much better living... Many of the Late Model announcers, listed in this thread, are just giant fans and supporters of Late Models. They are all great guys (racing friends to me), who are fortunate enough, to be able to make a few dollars, by being paid "fans" of our sport...

In many cases, they are showing up to a facility a few hours prior to taking the action live. There is not enough time, money, extra employees, or production facilities, to put on a ESPN type broadcast...

Watch what you can, but also appreciate what we have... Because only about 15 years ago, we did not have any of this.

They all do a good job but a guy I’d love to hear more of is Chris Stepan. Always listened to him on ppvs such as the USA nationals back in the day but first time I heard him live was at Pennsboro this fall and he does an excellent job.

i noticed after he was with the "flo" guys before flo was a thing so it was probably with DoD or maybe it was a couple big shows but they worked together for about a year then they never worked together again. If i was a betting man something happened between the 3-4 of them and stepan was odd man out.

I thought Chris Stepan used to be part of promoting the Wild West Shootout then I swear he and Kearns had a big falling out and he got the boot. He has not done much stuff on Flo or DoD since.

I don't get the schtick. But I'm not in that demographic either.

Ben and DJ are excellent at what they do. The other option is to watch with the sound off. It's not been that long that only a few of these races were shown live and some of those were PPV. Enjoy it while you have it.

Ben and DJ are amazing at what they do but for some reason (not exactly sure) I could listen to a James Essex or Chet Christner everyday and never get tired of like I do with Ben and DJ. That being said when I am not feeling it I just hit mute.

To me, when Ben Shelton is in the house, you know you’re watching a pretty important race. On the other hand, if I never have to listen to Dustin Jarrett again, I’d be pretty happy. He always seemed to be biased against Bloomquist. Plus he seems to be completely in love with himself and thinks he’s a part of the “show” when he’s not.

i think just the opposite, keep DJ, let ben move on to other endeavors. DJ & chet would be great imo.
