There was a dude a number of years ago that built a big block aluminum late model motor that made 1100 HP. It was uncompetitive, even at Selinsgrove and Port Royal.

I remember that engine, built by "EDGE" I think and was run in a "Lazer" chassis. I guess you can go too far, but I find a big block interesting. Jack Pennington use to run a BB Chevy at Cherokee back in the early 90's in his Walter Newman cars, ran good too, but I'm sure it wasn't 1100 HP, that's a lot to hook up. I can only imagine the torque numbers!!!

A Wide bore is essentially a Big Block, the bore size is 4.180 to start or so, and can go way up to 4.250

A BBC 454 is 4.250 bore by 4.00 stroke. The bore spacing led to the term Big Block.

So a 480 Vic Hill is larger, 4.25 by 4.25 equals 482 cubes.

Brodix claims a 4.375 in stroke will fit, and a 4.250 max bore so that would be 496 cubes.

I would think the ROX Block cylinder heads, they would be right at 950 to 1000 hp. Ive seen flow numbers that would support them numbers but do they run it in the car at MAX? not sure.

Good point had to go look, its stated at 9.9" MAX so .900 taller than a SBC, thats crazy !

Nothing new. We've been running a 496 for some 23 years now. Reliable as can be, torque a plenty and gets a hot 8 MPG on regular pump gas in our Chevy crew cab hauler pulling our race cars up and down the California coast.

mcintosh ran that big block buick a few years back and did ok. Theres more economical ways to get 900 N/A
