New rules idea question

He said areo isn't as big as a factor on ¼ mile tracks not that is null and void. I agree that aero matters everywhere. I use analogy of going down road at 56mph and stick hand out. You move you'll feel all aero changes. Why is something so simple so hard for series to understand? Why can't a new series start and bring back real racing? I think people would follow if something done. No I don't mean livas or woo elite but your regional and Saturday night hotshoes

Shocks while expensive are really not part of the problem. If you have any clue about how the cars work shocks can be basically a one time purchase. Their are valving tweaks and the occasional evolution but in general they are a small part of the bill and one of the only components on the car that is virtually infinitely serviceable. You can literally have a 15 year old shock revalved and it's a nice as a brand new shock. It's the snake oil that gets people. But no amount of rule changes can fix that

Couldn't have said it better. Shocks are pretty simple, in general. The voodoo comes from using them to pass ride height rules and as aero platform manipulation.

Powers that be just keep whistling past the graveyard. The "majors" have so few contenders any more that it is becoming very boring IMO. There is still moments of action but at the end of the night, it's one of a handful of cars that ever win. Show Me was 71, 71 & 32P on the 3 nights. Both of those are in the top 5 to 10 that everyone knew the winner would come from before it started.

And we know at Eldora the big $ will go to one of the following: 32P, 49, 76, 71, 20RT or one of maybe 5 others at most. The 5 I listed are probably 80% shot of winning. I know in the glory days Moyer & Bloomer won the most there, but there were enough upsets or near upsets to make it feel like a legit 30 or so guys had at least a marginal shot of winning. 2012, Chad Simpson led the first 90 laps at the World as an example. Something like that hasn't happened in years at Eldora.

I say we go back to Full on Wedge Cars, and Sprint Car wings, 12 foot high bill boards, whatever...

Add nitrous, turbos, Superchargers, Fuel Injection no limits.

IF were gonna go down, lets go down in flames !!!

Add Sprint Car RR tires, 4 wheel drive, really make it a SSit show, cant get any worse than it is now.

First year I went to the Dream was the year Casebolt won. IIRC Scott James was on the pole & led for a little bit. Seen Matt Miller win a few prelim nights & be super competitive in the big show.

Erb in 2016 was the last sort of underdog to win the Dream. And since then only 4 guys have won it. Bloomer (RIP) JD & Overton w/ 2 each & Shepp in 2019. At the World you have to go back to 2013 to get to John Blankenship to get a sort of off the radar winner tho I know he had plenty of financial backing & was a solid driver.

The underdogs can still sometimes have good runs (top 5 or so) but the days of those guys even leading much of the race are gone. It's like they can get to 5th but have no shot to get to victory lane.

If they went to those type of cars I would quit watching but that's just my opinion....

I’ve been lucky enough to attend 6 local shows with special events for classes lower than super late models in the last month. As much as I don’t believe super late models are any less competitive at the national level than it was 20 years ago I will swear lower level special events are as competitive as any regional slm events used to be.

if you are looking for great racing action, get over the names and support your local tracks.

Specific to late models, the MARS series in IL primarily is putting on some good action. They will have a few big $ invaders this week with the $25k to win at LaSalle but their "normal" $5k to win shows are a solid mix of regional guys. Feger, Babb, Unzicker, etc. Seems to be a decent mix of winners & good races at the ones I have attended.

I live in se Wisconsin. Always been jealous of the central Illinois race scene. Love LaSalle and so glad is is back up and running. Now if it was only an hour further north…

I don't really care if one guy wins every race, as long as it's back to what it's supposed to be. If it's not an aero car, more people can afford to play, whether they realize that or not
