At the Firecracker back in 15 or16, 17 cars failed deck height after time trials. The deck height was 36”. They had their times disallowed and started heats from tail. They never checked deck height after time trials again and quietly raised decks to 39” the next year.Originally posted by AJMcCool View Post

That's exactly how we have come to where we are. It's been done over and over again.Originally posted by Josh Bayko View Post

Not quite. Back then there weren't body nose and parts manufacturers fighting for these types of bodies. Back then, the driver's owners knew it was out of hand and WELCOMED a change.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View PostThe funny part is that it was ruined the same way as last time.

True, but what I meant was it became an aero machine both times.Originally posted by 427c.i. View Post

Yes, a $10k engine with $4k performance, in a car that can handle 850 hp, is definitely the answer.Originally posted by Jim11h View PostI asked this cause miss thr day when you showed up at world thinking you had a chance. That's totally gone now. I fully agree bodies place thats cheap and easy to fix. Crates are gonna save us all 🤣
If you take 1000# of down force off a car, it definitely loses gripModern Day Spec Wedge Racing

Pretty hard to mandate what air happens to get under the car. Now the top side, that can be done. I couldn't care less about shocks. Most shock costs are kinda voluntary. People jump from brand to brand to get a small valving tweak, that is really only necessary to help the suspension/aero compromise. Dampers are not really that complicated. Put them on an aero machine, the compromises get somewhat complicated, but not like they are made out to be. They are the biggest rip off in our sport.Originally posted by ftfiowa View Postgotta get more air under the cars to slow em down, also need cheaper shocks, maybe a restrictor plate on motors too.Last edited by MasterSbilt_Racer; 04-28-2025, 01:17 PM.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

Very few big tracks race good anyways. And yes aero matters on a quarter mile. Take the nose off your late model and find out what happens if you don't think aero matters on a 1/4 mile. You will have to jack all the rear brake ya got and stomp and steer and it won't be fast.Originally posted by Tireguy17 View PostThe current LM races great on smaller tracks like FALS and Maquoketa last night because aero isn’t as big of a factor. Proves that large suspension changes aren’t needed to get racing better, just take aero advantage away.
