A good place to start would be limiting how high the RF nose is allowed to be... and the removal of the splitter.

Right now a trailing car can’t get within a car length of the lead car without losing the front end. I have no doubt the on track product would improve, we need to get back to finessing a car instead of driving it like their hair is on fire.Originally posted by reid boys View PostI don't think body rules will have any affect on the racing.

2010ish racing would be great. Nobody said anything about running monoleaf carsOriginally posted by FlatTire View PostSure beats that sling it in there sideways and keep it and straight follow the leader crap in the late 80's when there were flat decks, straight and skinny bodies, and dumb shocks. I guess thats what you guys want? lol.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

But wait, people told me big tracks were the reason for bad racing.Originally posted by Tireguy17 View PostThe current LM races great on smaller tracks like FALS and Maquoketa last night because aero isn’t as big of a factor. Proves that large suspension changes aren’t needed to get racing better, just take aero advantage away.

Go look at the Throwback Thursday photos on the DoD site from a 2002 UDTRA race. Those were some really nice looking race cars. How much of the rule book has really changed since then in regards to the body? That would be a good case study right there because I don't think it has changed a whole lot. But the look of the cars sure has.Political correctness,...is the inability to speak the truth about the obvious.

In my opinion, there are 4 individuals responsible for where these bodies and racing stands today.
Rick Schwallie- has no balls to do anything about it, will cave to the drivers.
Steve Francis- talked a big game after taking a head position with WoO. Was going to lay the law down on rules, lasted about a week.
Mark Richards- talks big game about needing to save local racing, thinks the bodies and rules are fine.
Steve Arpin- on record saying there is nothing wrong with the cars and rules.

They've changed a fair amount in ways that matter. The rest is non enforcement. Roof curve has been removed. Deck flatness has been removed. Deck height been raised several times. Guys started showing up with cars that naturally popped up on the LR, so they kept raising the measurements instead of failing the cars in tech. The rules are the rules. You like the setup, figure it out.Originally posted by Morgs153 View PostGo look at the Throwback Thursday photos on the DoD site from a 2002 UDTRA race. If it wasn't beneficial, it wouldn't happen. Most race cars don't do that, because unloading your springs is bad for suspension function.Originally posted by 84wedge View PostWhat if the *ss end of the car didn't jack up in the air like a cat in heat?
If you don't want it to happen, you make it not beneficial. You don't write dumb rules in a feeble attempt to tell people not to do it.Last edited by MasterSbilt_Racer; 04-04-2025, 01:39 PM.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

"Just find it so funny that the look of the big block dirt modified has changed so little in the last twenty plus years."
"Has no bearing as these mainly a northeast thing (golddirt)"
I'll respectfully disagree. It is an example of rules stability and application in a dirt racing series. It shows that it can be done. The other part that makes it relevant is that DIRTcar is under the parent organization of World Racing Group which also has under their umbrella the World of Outlaws. I understand what you're getting at in that the reach of the big block series is a large regional compared to a national tour. But these national series are the ones who are the pacesetters in the sport and where they go, many others (regional and local) follow their lead. WRG could have big influence with the cooperation of Lucas, if they so decided.Political correctness,...is the inability to speak the truth about the obvious.

The problem with adding new rules is that they don’t enforce the ones they already have. It’s how we ended up here.
