He asked for alternatives. I told him there weren't any and why (went to social media sites). Then I added my opinion about this alternative that made bulletin boards "obsolete".

Exactly! He asked for alternatives. You didn't say there aren't any, just expressed your hatred for social media. Have you tried Racing-forums.com? It's primarily about pavement racing but does have some discussion about sprint cars/USAC/midgets. YMMV

This seems as plain as can be for me? He asked for other sites. NOT about somebody's opinion about our societal collapse due to Facebook, etc. I listed an alternative.

Way back when I was a kid there was barely any racing on the tube. You had to actually go to races to see something more than a few minutes edited in on Wide World of Sports. Even when NASCAR was able to get on the tube and get weekly coverage there was little else until ESPN and the cable networks came on. But for the news of racing you had to subscribe to racing papers.

I would get my monthly copy of Stock Car magazine, my weekly National Speed Sport News, and my seasonal Checkered Flag Racing News and Midwest Racing News. The papers were great. The stories, results, a few photos, editorials and the ads. When you read through one of those you knew what was happening in the way of schedules and shows and it was all in one place. It made it easy to plan for attending shows. The ads for the upcoming specials were great reminders of things you didn't want to miss.

Now for sure social media is fast and you can give instant feedback. But for all things that used to be aggregated in those great little racing papers, I have to search around to a whole lot of different social media sites for that. Unless I'm religiously checking a variety of stuff on the net, I find myself forgetting and missing some shows I've wanted to attend when I first viewed a schedule release many months earlier.

Papers aren't coming back. But a good forum can act in some ways like the papers of the past in the types of things it can provide in addition to discussion of topics.

Something went weird on my phone. If enter racing-forums.com is goes to the dead link. No idea why. Have to go into one of the sections to get in.

                          Other racing forum websites
Obviously you have 4m.com, but others include Indiana Open Wheel, STL Racing, HoseHeads for Sprint Car fans, & Mid-South Racing Forum

I’m sure there are others as well.

I've got a pile of the mid-american papers in my stash of old stuff. I get them out every now and just read through some of the stories that were in there. Good stuff.
