DoD shows we had 61 in 23 and 24. 53, 54, and 46 years prior to that. I can't remember what year they stopped the passing point format?

I'm not a fan out these split field formats though. I don't feel like there is enough racing for what the fans pay for on the preliminary nights.

I see nothing wrong with a strong 51 car field. Could they easily get over 60 with some tweaks? Probably. But still a strong field. I’d agree with others their format probably hurts them a little with numbers. Next year maybe do a stand alone Thursday show like Cedar Lake and then a qualifying night like Fairbury does it on Fridays. The other thing is after two days of battling and qualifying for Saturday to get as many points as possible, they then invert 4. That’s gotta rub some the wrong way with as strong as these fields are. Starting outside a transfer spot in a heat after battling for 2 days to accumulate as many points as possible. Love it fir the fans but hard on the race teams for sure.

If you are one of those dominant handful of guys, it's pretty easy to miss the invert. You just need to bring the car in early in a preliminary feature.

Shane McDowell stated: to race for 75k on Saturday you have to race 2 preliminary nights where 5th place only pays 1k. Doesn’t pay the tire bill for the night. He said they are a small team and have to operate it as a business.

Not sure what is so bad with 51 entries. More than 1/2 won't make the feature. You're getting 6 heat races. Your relevant drivers are there.
Babb isn't there cuz he's committed to the Mars deal. Tyler Erb likes Magnolia Speedway. Dennis Erb likes Illinois tracks. I wouldn't have expected much more than 50 some cars.
