Sorry, I misunderstood. Thought happened in semi on Saturday but talking Friday night twins. Regardless he's gotta expect things and take what track deals. Know the competition or give room and more cautious in lapped traffic around those done Know as long as car legal by rules everyone that pays entry fee has right to race.
Do you agree with Marlar?

Mandated by who? I don't disagree they should all use it, but when the most influential sanctioning body doesn't use one there's not much can be done.Originally posted by Dirt Clod View PostShould be mandatory that every sanctioning body flagman use the move over flag. At least let the slower cars know the leaders are coming and to yield or actually move over.

You can’t take a super late model to a crate race so why let a crate car run with supers. Sounds fair to me. I’m a Marler fan but I think he stuck his nose where it shouldn’t have been and he came out on the short end of the stick. But on the other hand a guy that hasn’t raced all year should have enough common sense to not go to a crown jewel race for the first time out.

Was that the white 2 car driven by a guy named Boomer? He was bad enough that I actually looked to see who it was.Originally posted by 84wedge View Post
I was watching the Mars race last night and there was a late model in the feature that could have barely kept up with the street stocks. Even on the highway a really slow car is more dangerous than a really fast one.
They have the same issue at the Eldora crown jewels. There is always one or two guys that self spin multiple times. I think the rule is 3 and you're done for the race. I think it should be 2 and you're done for the weekend. Especially at Eldora, you don't need field filler.

Your never going to satisfy "Them", they are part of the generation that think rules and laws make things so. Would they feel the same if this racer had top flight equipment, but made the same mistake? No, they'd be hollering something else because they think they can legislate life into being "fair", it isn't. Next they'll only want to allow in racers with so much experience, or a car that is only so many months old and on and on. These people you are arguing with are fans(keyboard racers) not actual competitors who understand the effort involved...Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View Post
Williams wasn't even the slowest car on the track. Marlar had already lapped a car before he got to Williams. His last 2 laps were 18.9 and 19.1. 14th place was running 19.0 at the end of the feature. Again, this is knee jerk because an accident occurred. Should Landrum be black flagged? Lefevers? Montgomery, who ultimately made the 100 lapper? There was maybe a couple tenths difference between all these cars I've mentioned, at that point in the race."In the Republic of Mediocrity, Genius is Dangerous." - Robert Green Ingersoll

If the powers that be in late model racing did their jobs we'd still have 70 or 80 solid cars showing up at these big events. Outside Eldora & Fairbury these $50k plus events all seem to draw in the 50 to 60 car range at most. North South used to draw close to or maybe even over 100 cars.
Wouldn't be near as much need for a crate class & these moving chicanes but they keep on whistling past the graveyard.

It would have to be mandated by the series. Agree, it's not the only solution. What good is the move over flag is they never use it? It's a form of communication to the drivers, all divisions. I'll never understand why they don't use it. Too hard for the flagman to multi-task? If they're not going to use it, leave it home.Originally posted by blncfn57 View Post

I've worked in the flag stand several times. I've worked in the flag stand as the assistant to the flagman. Both of us had headsets to communicate with race control and as the assistant I ran the black flag number board and I kept ready the next flag for the flagman and he would hand back the ones he no longer needed so he could keep his eyes always on the track. During the race one of us would primarily focus on 1/2 turns and the other on 3/4 turns. It worked well. But that was on pavement in some extended distance races.
As I've gone to a lot of shows I am surprised more tracks don't use two in the flag stand especially in the bigger features when things get really busy and dusty on the track. It would help when using a move over flag for sure.Political correctness,...is the inability to speak the truth about the obvious.

At the long gone and much missed Saugus Speedway in SoCal the top class, Late Model Sportsman, regularly got near 60 cars. Everyone qualified. Top 20 went to the A main group, next 20 went to the B main with no transfers to the A. Rest of the field went home. Though it was a dead flat paved 1/3 mile and a very challenging track their system worked very well and the racing was top notch.

Don't agree with marlar. I wasn't their but it didn't look to me like the 15 car was going all the way out to the wall he just didn't leave quite enough room and Marlar clipped him. Just a racing deal sucks for marlar some nights your the bug some nights your the windshield. Mikes been 2 seconds of the pace plenty of nights in his career and their not over. It's a prelim where every lap matters so the shoe guys aren't gonna just pull in their trying to make the race just like marlar is trying to win it.

I think it worked out for Marlar anyway. He started on the pole of his heat Saturday. If he wins the preliminary race, he starts 4th in heat, and probably doesn't start as well as he did in the big show. I am fan of Mike's, stuff like this happens when they shove a microphone in a guys face as soon as he gets out of the car after something like this goes down.
It's racing, (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) happens
