Big news for the blue-collar late model guys

DJ Smallwood, the well-known and highly respected Race Director for the UMP Summer Nationals and a man who wears more hats than most people own, is launching an all-new regional Super Late Model series built specifically for the weekend warriors and blue-collar racers who make this sport what it is
Introducing the Slingin’ Dirt Super Late Model Series, covering tracks across Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana with one goal in mind: bring fun, simple, affordable racing back to the forefront. No points chase. No politics. Just racers racing because they love it.

Here’s what to expect:
30-lap features
$3,000 to win / $400 to start
Aiming for 20–25 scheduled races (realistically 15–20 with rainouts)
100% grassroots-focused — keep the sport fun

On top of this new venture, DJ is still the Race Director for:
• The Hell Tour / UMP Summer Nationals
• The Northern All-Stars Late Models
• The Northern All-Stars Modifieds
And even with that packed schedule, none of the Slingin’ Dirt dates will interfere with the Northern All-Stars schedule. He’s building this the right way.

Some tracks that have already agreed to host or could possibly be hosting at least one, and in some cases multiple, shows include:
Ponderosa Speedway
Lake Cumberland Speedway
Thunder Mountain Speedway
191 Speedway
Rockcastle Speedway
Brownstown (IN)
Montpelier (IN)
Muskegon Speedway
There’s also a solid list of additional possibilities still being worked through. DJ hopes to drop the full schedule as soon as a few other tracks release theirs.

He’s also currently looking for marketing partners and sponsorship support, so anyone interested in being involved with this new grassroots-driven series is more than welcome to reach out.
Grassroots racing is making a comeback, and with people like DJ stepping up, it’s only going to get stronger

That looks like an awful large payout for Florence, with fast 49 not there to fill the seats. They are plenty happy to sell $1 hotdogs and pay the crates $1000

This tour is for the weekly racer. It's not here to attract names. The guy running it is a UMP / DIRTcar official and has worked at a few named tracks one being Florence Speedway. The tour will race on weekend the Northern All-Stars doesn't race. Racers and teams at times can be their own worst enemy. No one forced a team to spend that kind of money to race. Race what you can afford. The biggest problem is racers thinking they need the latest and greatest stuff for their team like pit lifts. What happen to just spending a few bucks on jack stands instead of almost a grand plus on a pit lift. Drivers and teams need to learn to race within their means. Get my drift? If not, I can explain further.
