How do we Make local Short Track Racing Great Again (Dirt & Asphalt)?

Sadly, here in the southeast, I know many that would already complain and not go because there aren’t any late models on that program from Boone.

It isn’t about what classes are being ran. It’s about being efficient with whatever is running.

I watch replays of most streamed events just so I can fast forward through dead time. Can’t believe fans support some tracks I’ve tried to watch.

I have Boone on my list of races to attend. Imca Nats look like blast. Eldora 2hrs from me and haven't watched race there in 10+ years. Same people Same show world or dream

Watching summer Nats from kankakee on a Monday night, supers done & mods just finished, great features but there's 3 more features to go! Its 1050pm eastern, what in world why more classes???. Oll watch till fall asleep on tv but I agree, certain nights certain shoes 2 classes max most 3

Jim, I did the same. Most fans go to a Summer National race, especially during the week, to see the two headline classes. If you want to make those races special, then keep it to TWO classes. For some reason these promotors are afraid to get the races over at a decent hour. By limiting the classes for the midweek races, it would give the fans an opportunity to visit the pits, meet the drivers, and maybe make new fans and sell a few t shirts. Plus it would let the teams get out early and prepare for the next night. I could be wrong, but I would be willing to bet most fans would be willing to spend a few bucks more for LESS racing during the midweek races.

You have no idea my local track ran a 5 grand super race an 10 classes on top of that

IMCA weekly shows are FAR superior to UMP shows. UMP shows are usually long, drawn-out affairs (time trials everything but the water trucks, outdated format) while IMCA shows have inverts in the heat races and features that provide MUCH better racing.

Summernats sure know how to find the tracks in the midwest with "issues". Maybe they had lots of rain leading up to the race but that place was a plowed cornfield. Once it was announced as show up points only I checked out for the night.

They added a lot of new dirt prior to this season and they have had some trouble working the track the same way they could before this season. Other tracks have had similar issues in their first season with added dirt or a new surface (Eldora 2022, Mansfield this year). It is a shame it stood out the most on the night of their biggest crowd and viewing audience (DirtVision) of the year.

As they work to improve the new surface, I really hope they reduce the massive curb they have around the top, especially in turns 3 and 4. If you’ve seen the Hunt the Front videos that show what they tried to do with building a curb around Southern Raceway this season to create a permanent cushion, Montpelier is like that on steroids. HTF cut their curb down recently, and Montpelier needs to do the same. It is hard on equipment and really doesn’t make the top side faster.

I thought they knocked the one lane wide high groove out and flattened to s gradual banking thru corners? Didn't hear the show up pts only. Yea she was rough early but thought track did nice job thru night getting right for a pretty good feature. Shame on teams that pack their toys up early and go home because track isn't what they want. Fans paid to see drivers conpete!
