Trouble is these days you go to jail or get sued for that stuff. I agree pit justice is the best way to handle it. A guy acts a bit better if he has fear of a knuckle sandwich for driving like a moron. It is also one of the consequences of the safety being so much better in all forms of racing than it used to be.

That is a GREAT thing, dont get me wrong. But one consequence of it is that more guys drive with a reckless abandon & disregard for their fellow competitor than ever before. It has hit all forms of racing. 30/40 years ago driving like that had the possibility of life ending or life altering consequences so guys were a bit more diligent. They'd been to funerals for other drivers, visited other drivers in the hospital after bad crashes, etc & that informed how they drove. Of course wrecks still happened & some guys still crossed the line but it was far less frequent than it is these days.

Yes, racing use to be dangerous and sex was safe....Spot on, for all the good it has allowed some to learn the sport 'the hard way' and still continue; goes right along with all of society and 'warning' labels in my book.

I'm not much of Formula 1 fan but my son and my nephews are. I've watched races with them and I find it interesting that the top three drivers go into a debrief room together after the race and have a discussion whilst watching some race video highlights. Their commentary polite and diplomatic.

So I thought a funny idea would be to do the same at one of the major dirt late model events. Get the boys together in the lounge and have them watch together with commentary. Then you could hear someone say, "You see, right there. That's a sh!tty slider! You ran right over my frickin' nose coming up from the bottom of the track and stuffed my @ss in the wall." Might be interesting.

I personally don't really dislike any of these drivers. What I dislike is that, a guy who can drive so good really doesn't need to do some of these questionable things.

But I really think it is a Time and Age thing.

• Time. When I was growing up I don’t remember one DLM driver on the National or local level ever doing questionable sliders.
• Age. Today's younger throttle mashers drivers don’t respect “others” equipment like years ago.

Not necessarily a fan (or hater) of either of these two, but I'm guessing Terbo is on BP's list of people that he knows not to pull one of his questionable slides on. Not condoning dangerous paybacks on the track, but if more people reacted similarly to how Terbo did, that might help settle Bobby down. Leaving Bob out of it of course.

I like all the drivers and not just one over another. But, i have watched video over and over and I did think Nick could of backed off a hair and drop to Bobby's inside and no crash. Just racing and I have watched Bobby and few others make a move like that made a great pass on the inside. Bobby is going to do what ever he can to win and that in my book makes him good to watch and hard to beat Maybe it was just Nick not making the right move? Its racing and its exciting and Hudson and Pierce and a lot of others are making it exciting to watch. Pierce is going tp make mistakes and thats just part of it cause he racing for the gold and giving all he can and it works 99 percent of the time and when it don't its still racing. I have seen Nick and several other drivers make bad moves also and it just happenes. Split second moves are tough. Bobby has made some bad moves and so has every other driver one time or other. But, the cool thing about it the more people bitch the more t-shirts are sold. LOL.

Lots of factors at play. One of the factors is the ever increasing dependence on aero with these cars. It has rendered the slider the best way to pass especially on the big tracks. You have to throw the bomb to make a pass. Used to be able to get up on a guy & just ride til he slipped and then cut under. Aero doesn't allow following that closely these days.

Also, youth combined with not having to spend time in the hospital for your own injuries or those of others or the funeral home for a fellow racer that died on track has changed the way today's drivers race. Heck watch a national midget race sometime. Those guys pull moves on the regular that 30 years ago would have gotten someone knocked silly in the pits by a Jack Hewitt.

The cars are tons safer & they are all "factory built" so if you tear one up you just buy another one off the shelf. In the old days, you could both get hurt real bad or worse & if you tore up your car you had to rebuild it or build a new one from the ground up to get back on track. That reality changes how guys drive.

Sure everybody makes a mistake sometime or another. But, when you make the same mistake nearly every time out and don't give a crap who you tear up it's not a mistake anymore. It's careless and reckless. Dirty little Bobby chooses to make idiotic moves all the time. For many years now...
