Southern super late model racing is all but dead.

Most have quit or switched to crate racing.

Despite Lucas and woo's best efforts, there are still pockets of resistance.

I said several years ago that Lucas and WoO need to start, or buy, their own feeder series. It would give drivers a chance to sample some traveling and encourage drivers to move up to that instead of straight to the national tours where many aren't prepared.

The World of Outlaws Sprints series tried that in 2000-2002 with the Gumout feeder series and it didn't fly.

In recent years, the All Stars served as the “regional” 410 sprint car series. Since they were purchased by High Limit Racing, a regional void was created. A regional void that was talked about nonstop during the offseason and one that was not ignored by WRG CEO Brian Carter. In an early interview after the High Limit news was announced, Carter mentioned the possibility of a regional series being in the cards for WRG.

Those comments are now coming full circle with these new rumors. WRG is well-aware of the mistakes made from 2000-2002 and they won’t make those mistakes again. If they were to start a regional “feeder” series, it would most likely not be visiting 18 different states. It would likely be more focused on 410 sprint cars, while still having something for the 360’s. Carter and WRG know where the void is and they know where the most sprint cars in the country exist. Time will tell if there is any validity to these rumors, but don’t be surprised if something like this does end up happening.

While I don’t necessarily disagree with the point you are making —-------- the MARS series up North, and the Hunt the Front series down South appear to be what we’re given at this time. Both series have some decent racing and the HTF series really depends on track size and track surface conditions. That said, I don’t consider either of the series I mentioned as National Tours.

There’s still a bunch of weekly supers here in PA/OH/WV, Everywhere else is not as dire as the south.

What did it pay for 5th-10th ? That's what people fail to see latemodel purses are very top loaded and especially in regional super racing theirs alot of guys that know they probably can't win so they don't show that's kinda the silver lining to the 3500-5000 to win shows in the mid ohio and central Illinois area. It's low enough to keep the big guys from coming in and taking it per say but high enough that it's decent money for the local/regional guy so they get good car counts. If it's car count your after you need to pay better through the feild
