best part of Bloomer winning is his interviews, or then you can just have the politically correct crap that most of the boys have to say because that's what they are told to say

Kinda sounded that way. He is in a position that he can cut back on his racing.

cnbf, wasn't there an incident out in Iowa, or did that get bought off and expunged?

Here ya' go, this was in The Mason City Globe Gazette:

                June 27, 2003 12:00 am(0) Comments
MASON CITY - A Tennessee race car driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and possession of cocaine early Friday morning by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Department.

Scott Bloomquist, of Mooresburg, Tenn., was charged Friday morning at 2 a.m. on U.S. Highway 18 near Clear Lake.

Bloomquist, who won a race Wednesday night in Davenport, is a four-time national champion in the Extreme Dirt Car series, which features drivers from throughout the eastern and midwestern states. He is the first driver in the series history to top $1 million in career earning.

He has waived his preliminary hearing in Cerro Gordo County District Court, and his next court date has not yet been scheduled.

In regards to who pays for the cost of drug testing it may need to become a part of the cost of racing. Schatz makes some very good points. When Shane Hmiel was racing in USAC following his lifetime ban from NASCAR he admitted to being tested every week because of his past involvement and I would bet that USAC wasn't paying for it. I could be wrong but I'd make that bet.
That one in Iowa far as I know disappeared. Last thing I'd heard was someone else claimed it.

I don't disagree on the drug testing thing, but, I'd be worried about how many people will still be able to race. And you 100% test them for alcohol as well.
Up in the air who my next “favorite” driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normal”.

AND yes it happened to be Bloomer the sports biggest star, so people are going to talk. I said in my original post he looks awful for someone his own age. Racing and working is NO excuse for being unhealthy and not taking care of yourself.
Feathers ain't ruffled, I think it's hilarious. Bunch of Dr. Phil's and Dr. Drew's in here. Guys raced for a living for over thirty years. If you think he's eating perfect and exercising, I doubt it. When I have had to work outta town, my eating habits are not good. Guy jumps outta car and does an interview, and you want a spring chicken, not going to happen. Carry on.

Oh, by the way, I'll take a Ribeye, Full Rack of Baby Backs, and some sweet tea.

My favorite was "grossly over weight". Bloomer has a gut, that's it. If you call that grossly over weight, imagine what an actual overweight person would be called.

I didn't know whether the charge stuck or not. Who took the fall? Maybe the monetary incentives were adequate to cause it to fade away. We've all seen that movie! Can the OWI be bought off, too? Probably.

However, one has to admit that there has been a pattern formed.

The drug tolerance criteria of the sanctions or tracks should be the same as let's say a CDL. Alcohol included. If a driver presents probable cause in the pits then breathalyzer them. Nearly ever track in the country has some sort of law enforcement based security staff. A breathalyzer could easily be on hand.

Maybe I'm naive but I truly wasn't aware of drug abuse being rampant to the degree some have stated. I'll admit it's been several years since we've been affiliated with a team in the pit area.

                        bloomer

the guy just drove a hell of a race, being hit in the face with dirt and sea shells! he has, along with many others been on the road for 3 weeks from home and has spent many night months before getting prepped for speedweeks. 5 nights for me @screven speedweek--20 hrs sleep/plus month 1/2 working on getting prepared at nights and weekends ,and holding down a reg. job my azz is still wore out ! bloomer is not a young man ,like most think- most of these guys are pushing 50 or older. they are all wore thin ,and low on money------it cost like hell to be on the road look what as a fan it cost to travel ?fuel/food- not all members sleep in trucks lack of sleep and quality rest can have ya trippin by itself, iam sure scotty was ready for a crown royal drink after that wheelin experience !

I'm not a Bloomquist fan but I do respect him and I noticed the same thing and it concerned me. I don't think its dope, but I realize he had some events in his younger days that would lead some to that conclusion. Without being around him directly its hard to say, but I think its a matter of age and fitness, he's just looks exhausted when he gets out of the car. I think the demands of bringing a new car to market, building new equipment for customers and trying to run his own team may have just worn him down to the point of total utter exhaustion. Moyer has paid closer attention to his fitness and it shows. Volusia has been hammer down all week and those conditions alone will drain you if your out of shape and can't muscle the car the way he needs to. Maybe next year he should consider consulting in Florida and then focus on the events he wants to hit later, not 3 weeks solid racing. JMO

If you like the 2/18 interview, his 2/21 interview is about the same. He did have his 4 or 5 typical reasons why he did not win so I think all is well with Scott. He's just p00ped out after a long couple weeks. Once the Summer heat shows up, and the tracks slick off, he'll be doing crotch chops and will be all smiles
