I see a few people, that are putting a lot of stock in a few Speed weeks races. Note, you will not see a track the rest of the season, that you can use these set ups on.

Smokey Unick put it best. "The sun shines on a different dogs but each day." We have seen a lot of chassis come and go, depending on who climbed it them and who turned the wrenches. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Where on that list is, Bandjo Matthews, Hutcherson / Pagan, Stock Car Products, Sanger, Star engineering, Howe, Chrysler Kit Cars, Jig a lo, Tri City Buggy, Pierce and Bullet and that just scratches the top of a long list, that are not around anymore.

          Testing his tires

I guarantee you his tires will pass. His tire man hasn't even been there at all during speed weeks. He left over the winter and didn't go back. But he has clanton in the right direction. He is one of my good friends and clanton wants him back. He is leaving tomorrow for zebulon ga.

If he just won all those races without him, I dont believe I would want him back.

There is obviously something there that he is helping him with. Or he wouldn't of been offered what he was to comeback. He started towards the end of the year last year and they won a few races together right after he started. He came on board program picked up. Showed him a few things and it's obviously paying off.

Bingo! Nature of the beast, nobody stays on top forever and just since Ive been running(1986) I've seen several come and go. Some have come and gone multiple times. Rayburn and Mastersbilt are the 2 I remember coming and going multiple times. I remember when GRT was EVERYWHERE, kinda like Rocket 2 years ago. Dealers where everywhere, they populated the majority of the fields across the country, then Mastersbilt surged back, in the early 2000's with the "Smack B", then Rocket to the lead. Now momentum has shifted again, combined with a diffusion of new builders. When I first got started the team I worked for ran "Custom" chassis by Frank McClendon and in our region Jig-a-Lo was the chief competitor, with a few Rayburns and Bullitts mixed in. As the 80's gave way to the 90's the Bullitts became even more popular and Mastersbilt emerged as a player thanks to Bloomy going national. By mid 90's it was mainly Masters, GRT's and Barry Wrights(man those were good cars). Late 90's Rayburn began to resurge continuing into early 2000's and Bullitt fell away. Rayburn was so popular at this point he enlisted Warrior and Larry Shaw to build his cars as well, calling them "Rayburn Direct". You see it just happens, nobody can stay huge forever, kinda like the housing bubble, its just not possible to sustain.

I was dealing with larry and kevin shaw a bunch during early 2000s and I never knew anything about them helping cj, they were working with dale McDowell and rocket, as well as still building there own chassis, I still talk to kevin from time to time, ill ask him about it, but I don't remember anything about them doing any thing for cj. I do have some age on me now and could be mistaken.
