I think it is a good format and hopefully other tracks will follow suit.

My only question is how do they line them up for the second round of heats? That seemed to be a little bit confusing. The passing points tally I understand.

Second round starting positions are from a draw also.

I think they invert the first heat .... Start first in heat one ....You start last in heat two ...

Format is exciting. House packed and will be again next year. Good for Florence adopting this. Friday night racing was fantastic and exciting BTW

It was the case, but each heat race had different drivers in it. It makes it fair in case somebody draws one stacked heat, they don't have to race against that stacked heat again. The format makes the guys race their way in and keeps the whiners (Moyers) home.

second round heat 1 had Jameson, T Mac, and ONeal. All were in separate first round heats. Is their a system for this heat shuffle? Just curious how it works.

HH25.... I'm not sure how they determine what cars are in what heats. I-80 has been doing it for 5 years and I can't figure it out. Maybe it's a random shuffle in a computer program. One thing is that each car is inverted from the previous heat and it's usually only 3-4 cars at the most that run the same heat together.

I believe they would use two sets of pills to draw from,one for each set of heats. So lucky draws could put you towards the front in each set of heats.

Nope, one pill draw. The second set is some sort of invert from the first set, not exactly sure how they do it but it is an invert. Say your pill puts you starting fifth in the heat you will start the second set near there also, if you start first, the second set you will be at the tail. It is actually a bit frustrating as you are always trying to calculate who scored what, and I am not a fan of it, but it is what it is.

There are arguements to be made against "pill draws" also. If you have a flat in the heat race you are SOL, even though your car was fast enough that qualifying would lock you in the feature as proof of one of the fastest cars, your OPPORTUNITY, was taken away just from the shear bad luck of a flat tire, or whatever event, such as being ran over or ran off the track in a heat race.

At the SDN..... Garrett Alberson was leading his heat and broke. Came out for the 2nd heat and finished 5th. Made the show through the B.

Jesse Stovall was running 2nd and blew a tire. He limped around to finish 5th in his heat. Finished 2nd in the next heat. Started on pole of B, made the show. Finished 3rd in the A main. The same thing happened to Birky in the first year.

You can over come bad luck in one heat and make the show. From what I've found in the past is that you can finish around 6th or 7th in one of your heats and still make the show if you won your other heat.

^^^^ look at what Chris Brown done at N/S. Started deep in his first round and won, ended up getting in a tangle in his 2nd round after starting the front row, still managed a decent finish and got him a good spot for his B. I think he ended up 6th after the 100 lapper last night. I'm sure he looks at that as a good run considering the what all he went through.
