Davenport, for those of us who live near where he is from could see he had insane potential going back to his legend car days. K Rumley is well known in NC and SC for building, designing dominating cars that only ran regionally. Kevin and Jonathan were a potent combination the first time they got together, the difference this time is focus, resources and the opportunity to show there stuff on the big stage. These cars are being engineered in ways not many have attempted before. Sure Joe Garrison had his computer car in the 90's, but that was less about geometry and aero and more about structural rigidity. I know Barry Wright hired some Cup engineers to help him with the front end he uses now, but the difference this time, with Longhorn is the entire car from nose to tail has been rethought, redesigned and built in a better way than ever before. Also the lead engineer owns the cars and his father builds the engines, so they have a vested interest to do their very best. Now add in an incredibly talented driver with some seasoning and you get a Hot streak that started bearing fruit back in 2014... This is only a surprise to those not paying attention.
He is having an amazing season. No doubt it. Lets see how he backs it up in the next few years.

Has there ever been anyone that has had a run like this and then went in the crapper in the coming years? Just curious

Saying Scott Bloomquist ever won 1 million dollars in a season proves to me that some of you need to go back to School.... Outside of Donnie Moran, it's never happened in 1 season.... I don't care how many races he raced and won... There's some Tennessee rednecks that failed in Math Class...

Give me a break. Proof to me Bloomer did not win a million since you seem to know so much.

Apparently you are a Bloomer hater, take a right turn and get off this thread.

I guess I should of phrased it different, in being has there ever been a one hit wonder (which some are saying JD is) have this type of season and then fall off.

I wouldn't say Johnathon is a one hit wonder. He's a solid racer that's on a roll. There have been lots of rolls in the past and hopefully there will be more in the future. One of the best things about LM racing is there are usually 10 drivers or more that can win on any given night. There is no doubt in my mind, that he will be beaten, but even when he is, he will have a lot to be proud of.

Jonathan Davenport’s 17 wins broken out by starting position:

                    1st: 2
                    2nd: 2
                    3rd: 3
                    4th: 2
                    5th: 2
                    6th: 3
                    8th: 1
                    9th: 1
                    11th: 1

2,5,10, maybe, 50, 100 laps not a chance. bloomer would win 8 out 10 time for sure. Anyone of the top 10 drivers driving rumleys stuff this year could be this dominate. I say good for JD win them all until the others catch up and they will. That's what makes this sport great.

it don't really matter much but if bloomer is in the lineup you know hes gonna be a threat too win. im not a bloomer fan but no one should take him lightly. fact is you don't see him runnin a b main or a prov to make the show

Nice to see someone under the age of 40 winning some of these races. JD may never have a stretch like this again but I think he will be one of the 5 or 6 guys to beat over the next 10-12 years. Look at the age of most of the top guys. Pretty much all in their 40's and 50's. JD has father time on his side.

JD was knocking on the door and making some noise in the BW house car before the fateful move to Bowyer. That move has put the brakes on several careers up to this point. This epic run has to stop at some point, probably sooner than later, but it has been fun to watch a local boy get to the top of the dlm world.
