    Bloomquist said/Roger Slack said?

In an article in Inside Dirt Racing, Bloomquist stated that he had Eldoras scales officially checked and they were inaccurate. He said he was in standby mode. Roger Slack stated in an e-mail to the author, that after the scales were checked, he considered the matter closed. Huge difference in interpretation there!

    Your thoughts and comments?

Seems the only position that counts is the track's position. Slack says case closed. So.......case closed!

All the other cars met the weight requirement that night. Some were way to the good. He has no case.

      It's over...... Moving on.

Track scales are the official weight. That is why you roll your car on them and check.

Roger Slack is as trustworthy a guy as you'll find in racing. Bloomquist, not so much.

Don't know what the laws are in Ohio but here in Pennsylvania there was a driver who took a track here to court over the scales saying he was light and by Pennsylvania law if you are paid by the results of a scale they have to be inspected, calibrated, and certified by the States weights and measures department.
The driver won his case and was paid.

I believe that's the way it is in most states. It will be interesting how this plays out!

If the scale was really off? We'll no matter what it should be set accurate. Really no excuse for it. Bloomer may or may not get his win back. But I bet that the scale is accurate at the world.

I'd like to know how he thinks it was off for him and wasn't for Davenport? The 6 crossed the scales first. If it was going to be off I'd thought it would be off on thee very first car, not the second. I talked to a driver afterwards and he said the Eldora scales are most generally weigh heavy compared his scales at home.

Anyone that's ever watched Bloomquist, knows he never crosses the scales first. It doesn't matter if it's a heat race win or he wins the A main. I remember watching him and Delmas Conley put on their pace laps after a dream heat race one year. Delmas was just playing his game and was trying to make him cross first, finally Earl made them cross.

If they are off, that's screwed up, and yes, in most states where the scales determine money of some sort, they need to be certified.

But, everyone else was ok, so wtf. Move on, you screwed up.
Up in the air who my next “favorite” driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normal”.

Let me preface my comments by saying while I am a Bloomer fan, I have also worked for many years as a technical official at several tracks.

Here is the flaw im most peoples argument on this matter....it doesn't matter how many other cars went across the scales and were found to be correct. Each car and its weight has to be looked at individually and without regard for the weight of any other car. If the scales were in fact weighing off, that would just mean that any car that weighed correctly would actually have more of a cushion to the good. For example, if Davenport was found to be 20 pounds over the required minimum, and the scales were found to be weighing 25 pounds light, that just means that Davenport was actually 45 pounds to the good after the race and the weight of Bloomer's car has no baring whatsoever on Davenport's weight and visa versa. Using that same 25 pound example, if Bloomer came up 20 pounds light post race, and the scales were found to be off by 25 pounds, then Bloomer was technically 5 pounds to the good. As I said, I am just using these numbers as an example and I have no idea wha the actual numbers post race were.

What I can tell you with absolute certainty is that the scales are the single most disputed post race tech item I have ever checked. The way I handled it was that I required the tracks that I worked for to have their scales certified twice a year, at the beginning of the season and again mid-season. I posted copies of both certs on the tech shed wall for everyone to see, and when any driver started with the "well my shop scales say..." I would immediately point to the certs for the track scales and tell the offending driver that as soon as he shows me the certification for his shop scales we would talk....end of disucssion every single time.

Slack stated... Ohio's Department of weights and measures investigated, inspected our scale, and consider the matter closed.

That sounds pretty much cut and dried. Who's Bloomer gonna plead his case to? The Supreme Court?

Bloomquist just screwed up plain and simple and now he is trying to justify that fact by calling foul on eldoras scale's..... He just needs to accept the fact that he was light at the scales and move the fuk on......
If you can't race it or take it to bed! It ain't worth having!

If I heard right, davenport was 6 or 8 lbs to the good, Bloomquist was actually 28 lb light. I'm sure if I heard wrong someone will correct me.
