I was meaning the first year guy at the bank... Not Union guy... Most first year Apprentices make 50%-75% of top scale...

i assume that's true, but a first year guy that produces should make as much or more than a 20 year Union veteran that does not........

I guess that's one of my biggest beefs with the whole thing.........I'm never a fan of tenure based pay scales unless they are also somehow tied in to productivity and results along with the tenure.

When someone stops producing, and just shows up for work for a check is when they need to have their attitude and work ethics adjusted.............and most union shops that I know of have negotiated that right out of the equation.

If the 20 year guy is producing and his pay is commensurate with his results and level of expertise then I have zero problem in him making 50/75 percent more than the first year guy.......after all, that's how it normally happens in the real non Union world.

Unions are here to make sure the working man can take his family to disneyland too...not just the scabby company owners....

unions of today have outlived their usefulness..........early on they were a necessity, like pay phones.

I see that spelling , sentence structure and common sense aren't at the top of the union negotiations........
Glad you are proud of your military service as you should be.......sorry you still have to depend on someone to tell you what to do and how to act after you got out.

This is an opinionated board, I know in the union that those aren't allowed( opinions) and that you are having a hard time accepting that some people can speak for themselves and don't have to pay dues for people to speak for them.

                Shake it off cupcake........

That the only people that think unions don't suck the life out of a company and are still great and still useful...........are the sheep that are members of them????

                  Ain't America great??

Most people who bash unions are still 70 years old and working because they can't live off the little bit of social security they draw or they are wealthy people that think it's OK for them to make good money but not other people I have 17 years in can't wait till I'm 55 so I can draw my first pension check

what this boils down to is a cover up and the government to find a escape goat for there mistake, which they did and wanted to hang him but had not enough evidence to get more, but are making an example of them. whether union or non union the families are destroyed lost forever because neglect of somebody not doing there job the right way.

How safe would you feel riding in elevators and or escalators that were installed and maintained by a non Union company? Ones who hire anyone off the street, not sending them to school (apprenticeships), and paying them 12 bucks an hour. Be thankful over 85% of the elevator work in the US is Union. You get what you pay for. If you want say we (Union) are over paid. Come spend a week installing new elevators in a 45 story high rise build. See if you will call us over paid, non working Union workers.

I'm guessing that the elevator company you work for has federally mandated safety regulations in place that are routinely inspected and enforced.

If there are regulations that are in place to ensure public safety then owners that operate in that arena are obliged to follow those rules or not be licensed to operate.

Including owners of elevator companies.............no Union needed to enforce those rules.

Just a good owner of a good company and the inspectors that are hired to oversee that the rules are being followed.

There are good and bad unions just as there are good and bad non union companies but you are delusional if you believe that without the unions' wages and benefits all the non union jobs in the trades and manufacturing would be what they are. Before I was a building contractor I spent 15 years as a union carpenter with terrific benefits and now, in retirement, the small pension helps put some meat on the table and buy a few tires for the race car.

Those people that are 70 years have been around to see how a company and unions
play their games. I know a very good friend who is a high ranking official in a very big
union , and have been invited to several paid trips for vacations with him , all paid for by
the union . you really dont know what really goes on . it makes sick when i here about
all the wrong doing . ( REALLY ) . the game is played and you are to . i hope that pension
is there for you when you need it . its like ( SS ) better hope its there . nothing is forever .
better talk to one of those 70 year old be better in formed . and hope they dont change
your rules . you dont have control that out come at all !

I find it comical that Don Blankenship showed up on the streets of West Virigina yesterday to show his support for Trump against Hillary Clinton visiting!!! I'm not into politics, But if I was Don I would keep a low profile!!
