What's your top 5 MUST SEE dirt tracks that other race fans should know about?

If you've never been go check out Tri-state speedway Haubstadt Indiana. Racy little joint.
Went to thunderbowl speedway in Tulare Ca. last year and really enjoyed that too.

Tracks that have closed.. WVMS, Silver Spring, and Pennsboro. Pennsboro was a sh1t hole and there wasn't much passing but it was always an experience to be there

A lot of mentions of Fairbury just a note they will also have brand new bathroom facilities this year and replaced a set of bleachers on the front stretch side to add some seating.

please you guys call up the promotors of belle claire your likes all he wants to do is run micros outlaw karts b mods and the such last year a disaster I just came back from there for practice wi th gateway dirt coming up he needs more specials for teams getting use to the bull ring tracks on my top 5 belleclaire I55 tri city fairbury and Eldora

I might get flamed for this considering this is a dirt track forum, keep in mind id rather watch a dirt race at a local sh1t hole than see an asphalt race, but Southside Speedway in Richmond VA. was an awesome asphalt track years ago when i went. While on the topic of asphalt tracks Langley Speedway in Hampton VA. use to have some bad a$$ enduro races. Every driver would draw a pill with a car # on it and would get bonus $ for wrecking that car

Eldora.....enough said there I think, don't get much better than that place.

Charlotte, has the feel of the world, kings royal, and super dirt week all rolled into one show. Plenty of things to do outside race track, and anything a man would want to eat is near.

WVMS, I know this place has since been changed, and has been sitting vacant for the last couple years. Those that were there and seen the old speed plant at its finest, miss it dearly. I know I miss it.

Volusia, to me getting down there after what seemed like years, which was really only a couple months of being trapped in a house and not smelling race fuel, not a better feeling in the world than seeing action that early in the year. I highly suggest anyone that's never been, try to make it there or one of the first races of the season, you'll be hooked on going.

Tyler County, it may not have all the fancy chit like eldora or Charlotte, but the racing is second to none. Just don't wear a white shirt, and dont forget something to keep the dust out of your balls.

No love for Oakshade? Usually great racing and full field of cars.

Not on the tops of anyone's list and I've seen excellent racing and I've seen marginal racing there but I think everyone that can do it should make a trip to county line speedway in elm city NC.......it's certainly not like some of the taj mahals ( Charlotte, wheat land etc.), but it's like stepping back in time with the trees around the backstretch of the track, the bleachers built amongst them and just the overall old school feel of the place.

The owners treat it like a baby and spend time tweaking, and tinkering with it without upsetting the atmosphere........it's just a really cool place......and most times the racing is pretty dang good.

Got to agree with LMMark on most of his choices,looking at them from a racer's perspective. Bako's fun even though we've never had much luck there. Santa Maria's always been one of my favorites and spent a lot of enjoyable night's there but it's not what it was since Doug Fort passed away several years ago. Silver Dollar has been our Friday night home for some 10 years it's a rare chance to race on Friday in CA. Since we're fendered guys I don't much like always playing 2nd (or 3rd) fiddle to the innumerable sprint car divisions but it's very racey and the guys in our SS division are great to run with. Never been to Perris and although Vegas is Vegas the track generally sucks. I'd add Petaluma as a favorite, sticky; wide and big and a very competitive joint. Ran Eldora for a couple years in the old flathead days and loved it, especially when I learned to take a breath once in a while.Lived 3 miles from the Ventura track for some 25 years and used to watch the Speedway no brakes motorcycles on occasion midweek. Naylor got the track 'bout 35 years so the TQ midgets he drove ( and painted) had some place to run. Those classes were fine but, like you said, the bigger, faster stuff not so much. With the city's 10 p.m. curfew you do get out of there early. Built surfboards when I lived there and rode the waves at Surfers' Point front in front of the track before hotels and other civilized crap was there.

One place no one mentioned is wytheville. One of the best if not the best racing surface in dirt racing. And Fred Brown is one of the nicest promoter in racing. They just need more big shows.

Not menioned yet is Ohio Valley Speedway in Lubeck, WV. Track is about the same every week, little dust and fairly tacky and smooth. If you haven't been there, it is one you should try and make. The Jim Dunn memeroial is there in June this year. That should one hell of a show.
