I'd hardly say it is a dinky arena. It was the largest freestanding building in the world when it was built and is still one of the biggest ones in the world today, but I don't want to turn this into a thread based on facts at the risk of scaring people off.

It's a great idea.......hope they can pull it off.This whole make believed maxxed out lists rumor is starting to sour the stew ......well thought out , well planned hype for an event is a great way to promote it.Sketchy, he said she said hyperbole is not.Anyone that has been around dirt racing long enough knows that you are not going to get 400 teams all at once to commit and pay entry fee into a race that's 9 months away( the maxxed field statement was made in March) ......it's just doesn't and didn't happen that way.Somebody prove me wrong and I will recant every word and offer up the most sincerest of apologies to anyone offended.

No one has had to pay anything do far to register. I registered and they pulled a dollar out of my account and sent me a confirmation email. That's it. I assume either when we get there and actually sign in or when it gets closer they will get the rest of the money.

10/4.......I kinda figured it to be more that way than the maxxed out field nonsense that the wishful thinkers are throwing out there.

Sounds more like a roll call to see the interest than it does a maxxed out list..............which is absolutely fine, I completely understand that concept.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have all 400 slots registered for. But whether or not all of the people will show up is a whole other thing. For me it greatly depends on my performance this year and if my motor is still in good shape.

I don't have to insult you "tough guy"... You do that pretty well on your own... This race will never have the popularity, the intense feeling, the randomness the Chili Bowl Nationals has... You can't simply just jump into a late Model as easily as a Midget... Some teams bring 5 midgets and rent each one for 5-8k... You flip them, you replace some bolt ons and you are back racing that night... That's impossible with a Dirt Late Model or Modified... Again, you've never been to Tulsa... So you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about... So until you head to Tulsa Oklahoma in January, it would be wise to enjoy the Gateway Nationals and keep your mouth shut...

this weekend will show you how big midgets are compared to late models both racing with 20 miles apart I can only gueuss which track will have the bigger crowd Friday night

You have OBVIOUSLY never been there. It is in a huge arena.

I have been there it only holds what 112k gateway hold 67 k that would be all 5 nights of the chili bowl in one night 1.7 mil square feet compared to 457 k square yep dink place in comparison
