The only person I have seen run one all the time is Jeff Herzog with MLRA and seems to do fairly well. He seemed to qualify decent for being likely motor limited but only had 2 top 5's and 6 top 10's. I do not know whether it was a home build motor or a big name but seemed to run pretty good.Originally posted by Kromulous View PostAre the LS series of Engines a viable alternative now in the Super Late Model arena?
I see Mullins and few others offer them, not sure how many out there are running them.
IMO come feature time they are generally enough but your likely to get buried in a heat race from qualifying.Last edited by billetbirdcage; 12-19-2024, 01:15 PM.

The tech piece is the hard one to fix. A good tech person is hard to get without it costing a fortune and I can see that the series is not just overflowing with cash. That said the series still needs to put forth the effort, especially when there is more money on the line. I again am one that truly works to make my stuff better (and am not fast enough to truly worry about it); but it still makes you wonder when nothing is getting looked at... At least it shuts down the gossip in the pit area somewhat... I am with you on the tire prep program, usually I am the one doing the tires as well and it takes at least one whole night just to get half prepared (and I need to be working on other things at the same time).Originally posted by Jking24 View Post
I didn't hear about the "no tech" fiasco but I'm a little out of the loop lol. Im a huge fan of no grooving and no siping. I'm my opinion it is the single biggest thing you can do for the smaller teams. I have virtually no shop help and very little track help unfortunately the tire prep program gets the short straw most weeks it's not uncommon for me to work on tires all the way up until hotlaps and in between races and still not have everything where it should be.

Agree, but Hoosier is the problem.Originally posted by billetbirdcage View Post
Hard to do when Hoosier doesn't make a hard 40 tire for LF, RF, and LR
The Clasic Dealer vs User, at some point your killing your own Sales (Retail) !!
When we lose the Hobby racers, its over.
Just say no...

Doing away with grooving siping makes no sense to me. How do you call your series an "outlaw" series but only allow a CT525 crate engine???"In the Republic of Mediocrity, Genius is Dangerous." - Robert Green Ingersoll

How does it make no sense ? I wanst aware the term outlaw had any significant meaning in the racing world ? No different than bandit or stars etc.. just a marketing term to draw attention in their directionOriginally posted by Henry Every View PostDoing away with grooving siping makes no sense to me. I know two people who have done exactly this.
Step one, install a CT525 straight out of the box. Race it a year and take it too Ballwin and had it upgraded with a budget. Raced it another year and did it again. That 20 year old car with 20 year old shocks and warmed over CT525 is competing with Supers at Lucas and has won 2 track championships thus far.
Now lets be realistic, it's down on power when the tracks are hooked and hammer down-foot to the radiator never lifting kinda nights but those are far and few between around here. The driver is good, the set up is spot on, the engine is relaible and doing well. It's not what Davenport or Bloomer or BP or anyone of the top elites would do but...it will hold it's own most nights. IF youre a weekly guy I'd say this is something to look at for sure but if your racing 60 something nights a year and making enough money to eat than that guy isn't gonna be asking this question.
