my dad runs a 74 chevelle. in the 2010 season he ran the springs in stock location and was pretty fast but i could usually hang right with him in my camaro. 2011 season all he did was move to a 16" spring 3" infront of housing and he has been unstopable. i ran second to him once this season while he was trying to lap me. hes even won a few open comp type shows against 3 links. i honestly have no idea how or if it works, maybe it just suits his driving style.

            Offset Springs

If you move the LR spring ahead of the axle like was stated you are creating a TON of drive. IMCA only allows you to move the spring forward of the center line of the axle equal with the back of the spring. With the spring 3" ahead of the axle all the rotation of the rear end is compressing that spring, creating drive for the LR. Many Modifieds are setup this way when they don't mount the spring on the bird cage.

if the axle is rotating its going to act just like a 4bar late model, as the rear end wraps up it is compressing the spring adding more force to the LR tire than if the spring was mounted in the center of housing. the more force you have on that tire the more forward you will get. going 3in ahead of axle is really compressing the spring quiet abit.

i dont know, i dont run these cars but im sure if your changing pinion angle the housing is rotating. if people are gaining 8-12 deg of pinion angle its rotating somehow

how do you know you are only gaining 2 degrees of pinion angle? i find this very unlikely, unless you haveno forward bite.

i would hope your rearend doesnt rotate with the car setting on jackstands, lol. what happens when you apply the rotational forces of the tires reacting on the rearend through the control arms?

if your upper and lower control arms are at different angles your rearend has to rotate some through the suspension travel. not counting the give in your bushings unless your running metal or mono ball bushings plus im sure theres flex in some parts somewhere.
