Too Big Of Intake Runners?

Would a set of 200 cc Dart Platinum heads ported to flow 290ish intake and 200ish at .600 lift on the exhaust be too big for a gauge legal 500 Holley on a flat tappet 406 turning 7200 RPM? Intake would be an Edlebrock 2701 or World Products Motown 061040.

How did you get them to flow those numbers? Is there any runner left?

We tried it just for fun, on a very similar 406 with a head that flowed 345 on the intake side, and had a 235cc runner.

It made 536 hp on the gauge VDL.4412 amazingly enough, just went slightly rich on top, but we did run it that way at a 30 lapper when it went way dry, and it ran fine

Put on the VDL 850 with no other changes and it did 691 hp

How was the trottle resonse with the 4412?

Those were the advertised flow numbers, but were verified accurate on the flow bench,

The throttle response was fine, nobody could believe we were on the 2bbl, till we showed them on the tech pad, we finished 2nd in an open comp show with it, but like I said it was crazy dry and dusty

you made 691 hp on a 23 degree head (Im assuming solid cam, gasoline)???

My mind was stuck in the Super Street motors we ran.
I had some 235 old Darts that were flowed at AFR at 314 cfm.

All kinds of 23* degree flowing 325 and up now.......Ain't like the good ole days....

Check out the All Pro 23 degree heads. I think they are over 360/370 at 23 degrees.
