how long would one expect a 3.5 42lb crank to last at 575hp and 8k?
it was initially built for a 390 rule but running open carb now. This is in a mod w/ American racer g-60's.

If it is a good quality crank, Crower, Callies, King, etc and everything else is good, pistons and rods are nice and light, there is no reason that crank won't last for a lot of seasons...imo

crankshaft
Any and all crankshafts are only as good as block prep.. For instance chatter on stock main caps because on the horse power of rotating assembly.. This will cause more flex.. I am saying that to say this.. I have a crankshaft that only cost 500.00 new.. I have had this crankshaft for 10 yrs never been cracked.. I ran this in a 400.. No problems.. I also have a crankshaft that cost over 1500.00.. I have had it 8 yrs same combo with no problems.. Now I will tell you I spent lots of money having the correct block work done.. I can't tell you with one I run a little more gear than the other.. Now that both are geared correctly I cant tell a difference!Clean Passes saves you Money!

What's hanging on the crank and what damper you have is more important. I've seen guys buy the $1000+ cranks and put a $50 dollar damper on it or a heavy rod and piston. If you buy a lightweight crank you are defeating the purpose unless you put a good light rod and piston setup in there. Those heavy bobweights don't work when your spinning R's. Balancing included.BUCKLE UP NOW, YA HEAR?
