    engine break in

    alcohol set up. which oil do you guys start a new engine with?

    If you have money to burn buy break in oil like Joe gibbs but if on a budget like I am I used rotella oil. To each thier own.

      We use are normal brad penn oil and add 2 quarts of zinc. Run in the garage bring up to 200 degrees let it cool down and change the filter and head to the track. But thats what we did.

        Used Rotella for YEARS but it is not the same as it was a few years ago, the EPA has required the removal of the zinc and phos in Rotella now also.

          Unless it is a flat tappet cam you don't need to worry about breaking it in.

            perfconn has got it right, noting special here, get some good 20-50 val. and light it up, run it for a while in the shop, drain and install new filter and oil, 20 -50 early in season , straight up 50 in the heat of the summer . I use val. and had good luck with it, around 4.75 a qt.
