    carb help

Have a few question maybe some can help me with.

I understand how to choose a power valve size in a street driven car is it the same for a race car and what do most people run? Primary? Secondary?
We have a 6.5 for a primary and 8.5 in the secondary. These are the power valve that came with the carb when we aquired it from a long time racers that said it was done by a carb/engine builder that used to do his stuff for him. The carb is a 4150 hp main body 750 cfm, it has a quick fuel base plate.

For accl pumps with have a 30cc shot on the primary and a 50cc pump on the secondary. Is this the norm?

The linkage that open the secondarys, do most run a 1 to 1 linkage or the other that are supplied with the base plate such a 60% or 40% linkage on where the secondary open to the primary butterfly's?

The squiters are a 31 primary 25 secondary is this normal or not?

We were told when we got the carb was that is was build to have the secondary to come on soft so you don't break you tires free but still have plenty of fuel down the straight for the top end.

Any help and comments are welcome just trying to learn and find out some things.

What kind of engine is it on???
Does it run OK like it is???
I use 6.5 PV in most stuff except low vacuum late models I drop to 4.5's.
Secondary actuation is more a driver feel thing and I like to use that as a tuning tool on dirt.
Squirters usually 35-40 and 30cc on 90% of my stuff, 50ccs only when it is a thirsty big engine like 420"+.
Big pump little squirter, might be extending the shot some but I don't see it having any effect up the end of the straight.

What are your jets and air bleeds in the top?

Sounds like a decent piece, if it runs ok I would not mess with it, and could be used on anything from a Crate to a Limited Late.

      thanks for replaying.

its on a 383 all steel 13:1 compression motor. Worlds 220cc heads, lightweight balance rotating assb. Performance product intake high rise with an 1 inch wilson manifold taper spacer. JR 109 cam.

Its in a 3000 lbs pro stock/superstock clip car 3 link.

It runs fine just might be a little lazy on the top side.

we run in the desert southwest below sealevel so are jet are 84 on the primary and 89 on the secondaries. It might be a little rich?

air bleeds in the top is what ever came from holley on there 4150 main body assemb. I do not know off hand.

another thing it only has the idle adjustment screws on the primary block, its plug in the secondaries.
