Last year I switched from a K&N filter to the R2C filter. My engine builder was told by another engine builder friend that he had done back to back dyno testing and the R2C filter was considerably worse Torque and Horsepower wise than the K&N. Anyone else have any knowledge/opinions on this subject? Thanks in advance for your posts......

Testing
I'd be happy to reply with test data if you think it would help. It would refute these claims immediately.
Who are these two builders if you don't mind?
Are you running the new CFD base and lid yet?

I can't feel a difference in seat of the pants feel between K&N or R2C. Inside of the carb is much cleaner with R2C. I spent $50 on a K&N filter and probably $30+ on the cleaner and oils for it, plus washed it out every weekend. R2C was around $79 and haven't spent any money on it and only washed it 2 or 3 times in the past few years.Web: http://www.t17.co

10 Inch Filter
What application would require a 10" diameter filter?Originally posted by r3tracing View PostDoes r2c have any plans on making any 10 inch round filters
That diameter does limit the media area and can cause high media velocity on applications with relatively high demand.

like r3 said, 4 cyls. i've ran ford, toyota, and nissan and have run 3x10 filters on all of them. ford 2100 series, holley 350/500, and holley 390 4bbl carbs. not a lot of room on some 4cyls. plus the 10 inch seems to do better with the 4cyl vibration then the 14 inch.

The vibration is an issue on 4 cyl. glad to see im not the only weird one out there. at least everyone that you tell your running a 10 inch air cleaner seems to think anyway. We did turn 8400 with a 10 air cleaner so I don't think area of filter was to big of an issue on ours. Won a lot of races that way to. But I have noticed fine dust in carb and if r2c filter would cure that I would like to try one. Just wished they made a 10 though

We'll begin work on the 10" diameter air filters. We'll get a few that you currently use for baselines and comparative testing.
Reply to racing@r2cperformance.com if you have any specific suggestions or thoughts.
Thanks again.

If you have a part number, please post it. There are several listed and the pleat heights/inner diameter may be different.
Thanks

I agree that with the K&N the inside of the carb is dirtier than the R2C. According to the same dyno testing as above, R2C's base is really good! I don't plan on changing, I was just wondering if anyone else in the forum world had done any independent testing.
