Never have really figured out what your disdain for Jimmie is based upon, if anything. A great driver and by all accounts a fine person who is a devoted family man and is a distinct credit to NASCAR, to his profession and to his family. It's hard to understand what it is about Jimmie that makes him so distasteful.

As far as the points system is concerned, the old Bob Latford formula that was used between 1975 and 2004 was the very best. It needed a small tweak or two here or there but it nonetheless served the sport very well for a very long time and produced some great battles that came right down to the last few races, some to the very last race with 4 or 5 drivers who had a chance to win the championship. NASCAR essentially threw the baby out with the bathwater.

Is it coincidence that NASCAR has been badly bleeding attendance and TV ratings ever since? I don't think so, and neither does muddy but he won't admit it!! LOL!

Oh, and TSF, you still haven't clarified what it is about Jimmie that causes you to hate him. I know why you've hated Gordo all these years (Gordo consistently whooped up on arnhead is the real reason) but the Jimmie hate is dern near inexplicable.

Oh my my. I don't hate Johnson, or Gordon. I think Gordon does a great job in the booth. I know you are smart enough to figure out that fans have drivers they cheer for and drivers they don't care for. If we all rooted for the same drivers, what would be the fun in that? You hate Busch and Stewart so if I say I do not care for Johnson, you call in inexplicable hate. LOL
There is no reason to hate drivers.

BTW, I don't recall ever saying I HATED Johnson. As for debating who we think are the best drivers is really moot. It seems you want to drag me into a discussion on that, and I will just take a pass./Smile


BTW I will be pulling for Edwards Sunday. I think he deserves to win one. OPINION

Isnt Jimmies championships with the new points format? He wouldnt have half of them in the old system. So to me hes not as good as Petty or Earnhardt. Hes been lucky just like the Busch boys were

Under the old point system I believe it comes out with Jimmie having 3 championships. Gordon would have had 6, I believe. Edwards would have had 2. Haven't seen those points numbers for a while now.
I think Harvick and Stewart would have had two each. Something like that
