Everyone would get a $1,000 a month. The economy can't function if people don't have money to buy stuff. Trickle down theory is bunk and hasn't worked for thirty years. If people has their basic living needs covered, they would be free to pursue their own businesses.

Do you like Social Security? How about Medicare? Those are two very popular programs in the US and any politician that talks about defunding them gets knocked down in the polls. They also happen to be socialist programs.

Capitalism still exists in Denmark, France, Germany, and the UK. I don't see a flood of citizens fleeing those countries to come here. Capitalism can live alongside socialist safety nets like a UBI, extended parental leave, universal health insurance, and subsidized daycare.
