    Anyone Hear About This?

Apparently the idiots from Westboro Baptist Church are planning to protest the Dan Wheldon Funeral. I suspect it's because of the sponsorship he had with the National Guard when he was with Panther Racing. How is it someone hasn't burned there church down yet? These have to be the biggest idiots in the world.

These poor excuses for human beings should be shot on the spot when interrupting any funeral. They make me sick to my stomach.

These people have nothing to do with God. They are not a Church. They have nothing to do with the Baptist doctrine either. What they are is a bunch of misguided hell bound sinners. Their actions are against everything the Bible teaches. This continues to be a shame of course, but the freedom of speech in this country always comes into play. It is just amazing that any group of people would decide to do this. Not even the most despicable groups in this country do not stoop this low.

              What's their name

The best thing we can do is ignore these people and maybe they will go away.

A more fun way to deal with them -- I read that they were protesting and interrupting soldiers' services at Fort Bragg in NC. A local motorcycle club found out, and started showing up to chase the Westboros away every time they got near. So sic some motorcyclists on them when you get the chance!

Yeah I think they are called the Patriot Guard? They pretty much shielded the Westboro idiots form the family and the service. Love what they do! These are some stand up people.

I really can't say what I would like to happen to the scum that would do this at any one's funeral let alone the funeral of a fallen soldier.

                    FYI

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) is an independent Baptist church known for its extreme stance against homosexuality[1] and its protest activities, which include picketing funerals and desecrating the American flag.[2] The church is widely described as a hate group[3] and is monitored as such by the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center. It is headed by Fred Phelps and consists mostly of members of his large family;[4] in 2007, it had 71 members.[5] The church is headquartered in a residential neighborhood on the west side of Topeka about three miles west of the Kansas State Capitol at 3701 West 12th Street, Topeka, Kansas, United States. Its first public service was held on the afternoon of Sunday, November 27, 1955.[6]

The church has been actively involved in the anti-gay movement since at least 1991 when it sought a crackdown on homosexual activity at Gage Park six blocks northwest of the church.[7] In addition to anti-gay protests at military funerals, the organization pickets other celebrity funerals that are likely to get it media attention.[8]

The WBC is not affiliated with any known Baptist conventions or associations. The church describes itself as following Primitive Baptist and Calvinist principles,[9] though mainstream Primitive Baptists reject the WBC and Phelps.[10]

Yeah I knew what they were about and what they claim to be for. And if there message was strictly to protest homosexuality and they targeted groups that were homosexual I would say have at it.

I would still have an issue with them protesting a funeral of any kind gay or not. A funeral is not the place for a protest.

I believe these people are just twisted.

My wife and I just finished watching the movie red slate. I then got on here and read this post, WTF? I truly don't understand how and why Wheldon's funeral would be chosen for a protest.

BTW any one who has not watched Red Slate, it is basically about a pro claimed church group similiar to the above talked about. I truly had just finished watching the movie when I read this post.

There is nothing Baptist, Primitive or otherwise about this embarrassing group of people. They are in fact, simply a cult. The Bible does not teach anything about people being hateful. I could open a grocery store and call it a Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran grocery store. Would still be just a grocery store. In this case it is just a group of demented people.
