Bottom line is, some people think the government knows best and will allow every single right that they have to be stripped away from them and that still doesn't phase them.

Who was it that said," If your willing to give up freedom for security, you deserve or will receive neither".

They not only confiscated his fire arm, but his fathers. They where sold at public auction and then the kid was acquitted. The County said they didn't have to give the guns back. The court said they did. Some of them guns where antiques and not replaceable. The county got a very expensive lesson, but the gun owner still got the short end of the stick. One of those guns can only be found in a very few museums and none of them are family heirlooms handed down from father to son from well before the civil war.
The crux of the story is true. Not all the facts were put forth..The article would not make muster for yellow journalism. Fact is he broke the law and is paying for it . The young hunter apparently also broke the law, had he not he would still have his guns. This abuse of laws against all factions of society has been going on for years. For and against the people. Gun owners should not feel singled out. Is it the laws or those who enforce them the problem?:? http://www.upi.com/blog/2013/06/10/M...4491370865945/

First off, no state can legally make an unconstitutional law. In this case infringe your right to bare arms, as stated in the second amendment. In most states where the 2ond Amendment is not infringed you can transport guns in open sight if they are cased and unloaded or disassembled to an interoperable condition. Magazine out, bolt removed or broke down. Second what facts where left out?

The young hunter was acquitted, therefore he broke no law. In both cases it was government over stepping it's boundaries. Law enforcement is part of the government.

I get the idea that you believe one injustice is no worse than another. The old two wrongs make a right theory. There are injustices, like the poor kid that shoplifts a carton of cigarettes and gets 3 months prison and the Governor's son that is found guilty of manslaughter and gets probation. No injustice is acceptable.

Apparently the NJ law has not been declared unconstitutional. As far as some of the facts . He fled the jurisdiction and failed to show up in court to defend himself. Most times that will get you found guilty and you get max. sentence. I don't know if the young hunter was acquitted. The law suit apparently stems from the county illegally selling his guns and/or illegal search and seizure? You make an example that I wholeheartedly agree with. Your examples are spot on, our judicial system is not always fair. No, two wrongs do not make a right and I agree no injustice is acceptable. In real life it happens. Travel thru NJ with guns--get a permit. It is/was the law like it or not. Go hunting, don't kill over the limit. It is the law like it or not..

How are out of state people supposed to know all the laws of states they driving through? If they did, I guess one would have to drive completely around a state when moving to another state. The Second Amendment is Constitutional law about guns, the modifications and dissection of the Second Amendment by individual states is unconstitutional period. If these control freaks in government office have a problem with guns, then they need to bring the Constitution itself up and try to remove the Second Amendment directly in the eyes of the public. Not by appointing themselves as the law and bypassing the Constitution.

out of state rider have to know the helmet laws of each state they're riding threw as do over the road truck drivers. if you don't you get a fine or worst. this is not a second amendment deal he just screwed up in the wrong state. I not anti gun he ll I have guns and as a tool and die maker I build a lot of parts for guns at my shop. I don't agree we should have the right to own any type of gun we care to and not everyone can be responsible enough to own and safely keep a gun. I was at a swap meet over the weekend that had a kid in his teens walking around with a sword and trench coat just the type you might not want to have a gun. he just wanted to fill tuff but like most of that kind he was just scared to be un armed.

What would the difference be, between moving a gun or transporting a gun? It is your right to own guns. It is your right to buy and sell guns. It is your right to move or transport those guns to where you want them.

Some think gun ownership is about need. They need them to hunt, competitive shooting or home defense. It is not. It's about freedom. It's about want. Racing has killed a lot of people. You don't need to watch a race. You want to watch a race. FREEDOM.

The constitution does not define what kind of firearm the right applied to. As a matter of fact the intention was state of the art military weapons. They initially gave grants to the state to make sure they had, not only rifles but cannons and mortars. In today's world, that would include tanks jets and any other state of the art weapon. A national army was never approved in the constitution. The only federal fighting force approved was the Navy, to be paid for from excise tax on imports and exports for the sole purpose of keeping shipping trade open. The intent was never to place all the power in the federal government, it was to place it in the hands of the people. Being armed is power. What has happened here is trading freedom for security and Benjamin Franklin, one of our founding fathers, warned us, if you trade freedom for security, you will have or deserve neither. He also said, what we gave you is a republic, if you can keep it. It seems there is a big difference between Constitutionalists and those that think they are.

If you believe the state making gun laws is unconstitutional then your argument is with SCOTUS.he broke the NJ law. Apparently that law has not been deemed unconstitutional. Not believing in a law does not make it alright to break it. Strap on your weapon and go shoot some hoops in the school yard and see what that gets you..He should have known the law and obeyed it, believing in it or not.

                        Yet another abuse of power.

What ever happened to Doctor / patient confidence? I use VA health care and one of the questions you get at every physical is would you like to see someone in mental health. I wonder how many don't go, that need it.

Violence is going to happen. Before guns, millions of people were murdered and killed. Check history, that is a fact. Simply taking guns away will not stop, violence. I prefer a women being raped, has a gun and shots the bastard, I prefer a person being carjacked or mugged, has a gun and shots the bastard. I believe if your house is being robbed and attacked, that bastard is shot. I believe that a person goes into a mall to shoot up people, that someone with carry permit, shots the bastard. All of these have and will happen again. My point is bad people will always be around. So limiting guns only hurts the defenseless. Most of these gun violence happens in gun free zones, wonder why?

The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. if this wasn't so the police would be the first to turn theirs in. and the Military..Question for some on here..Why is Obama firing all the high ranking officers in the military? The one,s who refuse to fire on American Citizens?
