Kid, I'll lay odds that more people will die from ACA (obummercare) then American's Afghanistan and Iraq. Because of the wait times because they can't afford insurance and because they can't work their way through the system. We been in Afghanistan and Iraq for what, 10 yrs, same time limit for ACA...care to take the bet? (if it gets implemented)

And with your painfully low estimate of those who come accross the border for medical treatment its still 350,000 people, but its closer to 2.5 which makes it almost a million. The reason their coming over isn't price cause their paying through the nose, the reason is they don't want to die...how many of them if they didn't get to America would die because of the slackness of their own system? Which takes me back to the final sentance of the prior paragraph....

So you people for ACA just want health care for all and the hell with the consequences. Typical Liberal thinking. Does not matter that the quality of health care goes, wait times go up, and yes refusal of services to some. Such as a hip replacement to a 75 yr. old.
Bubstr, thanks for your service to our country. But a simple question, if this country goes to single payor system, why would the country then need the VA health system?

Like I said the estimates are from several articles I have read so, they are not my estimates. AGAIN I WILL SAY LIKE I HAVE SEVERAL TIMES. THERE ARE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE CHANGED IN THE ACA I WILL GIVE YOU THAT. I'M NOT HAPPY WITH EVERY PART OF THE ACA BUT, THERE ARE THINGS IN IT THAT ARE GOOD AND I HAVE POINTED A COUPLE OF THOSE THINGS I DO LIKE ABOUT THE ACA. IS IT GOOD EVERYONE PROBABLY NOT BUT, WHAT WE HAVE NOW IS NOT EITHER. I'M NOT HAPPY ABOUT PEOPLES POLICY GOING UP OR NOT BEING ABLE TO KEEP THEIR CURRENT POLICY THAT'S B.S. SO MUD I'M NOT TOTALLY HAPPY ABOUT THE ACA JUST LIKE YOU ARE NOT.

As far as refusal for services do you know that is happening right now. My family has a history of heart problems and my doctor wanted to have a test done on me to see if I had the same problem but, was refused by the insurance company. My doctor wanted it done so he could start treating me now but, the insurance company said no.
If you think we don't care about the quality of health care your just plain wrong. If you think we want higher wait times your just plain wrong. You have no idea if that is actually going to happen or not.

They wouldn't need VA health care or Medicare or Medicaid. I know first hand they aren't the free ride some think they are. I have VA, Medicare and supplement insurance at the cost of about $2,400 a year if I stay well and I can't even apply the supplemental ins. on the VA deductibles. Make no mistake the cost of health care doesn't go away. There is always a check left at the table after dinner, it just depends on who and how it gets paid.

By the way, the VA does hip replacements at 75 and they cut corners anywhere they can.

If you still believe the US is number one in health and health care google it. Health care rankings. They range from hard to understand, to easy. Pick yours. You may want to note many of the single payer countries rank higher than us. Some attribute this to lifestyle. I think single payer systems lean on prevention more than cure. It's not as profitable but more effective.

The people from other countries that come here for health care, go to places like the Mayo clinic. I have taken my wife there also because of the short comings of our system. It is an amazing place. Not unreasonably priced either, as a matter of fact, cheaper that the local Quacks.

We kill more people with our present health care than in Iraq and Afghanistan. We kill more in auto accidents than there. We have more infant death than there is soldiers killed.

By the way, you misspelled sentance = sentence. If you dish it out, you have to be able to take it.

All of the single payor system dont have 300 million people on the goverment dole either. There is already a Dr and
nursing shortage in this country who is gonna take care of them? Bedsides, cant think of the last time a goverment controlled health care came up with new cures, medical devices, and medical treatments. Does anyone think that the smartest young people in this country will want to become Dr's in future knowing the earnings will be limited? Personally I want the Specialist Dr to be paid well.

Prescriptions kept going up and everyone that didn't have health care used emergency rooms or when they had serious problems, the just filed bankruptcy and we paid for it with $20 aspirins and jacked up premiums. We needed a fix, we just didn't need the one we got. I have no dog in this fight. I'm exempt. Veteran health care. I just don't like seeing anyone getting screwed or rich from this.

Too bad they couldn't sit down together and work out a plan that was good for most of the people.

As far as Canadian health care, I have a couple friends from up there and they say their health care is a lot like the insurance they used to have or the insurance most of us have. It's great until you get sick. I can remember paying out almost 20K in two years in the early 80s for co-pays and prescriptions. It was a bad couple years for the wife. To make matters worse, it was her insurance threw her employer. One of those great government job insurance, and when she couldn't work, the premiums went up from $400 to $800 a month.
My insurance went up about 2% for next year. And it does not have any of these outrageous deductibles.

His Union buddies cried and got exempted too. Sebilius even said she is NOT eligible for the ACA, such lies.

Many doctors and health facilities are not wanting to take Medicaid (which the ACA is pushing people into) and ACA covered policies which have outrageous deductibles because they know the people can't pay the up front out of pocket portions of their bills.

It's not just ACA covered policies and Medicare or Medicaid, They are refusing to take a lot of insurance for payment. If the bill is for a office call and small, you pay it and they will file the claim so you get reimbursed. If the insurance doesn't pay it's your problem. If it's a large bill, you sign what amounts to a term loan and insurance payments will be applied to the loan. Fail to pay the loan and they garnish your wages or put a lien on your house or property. This started even before the ACA.

Reading some of the "claims" on here just reinforces my take on debate in our nation generally.

All MUSLIMS are EXEMPT!!-- Really? Ok. Sure. Whatever you want to think.

More people are gonna die from the ACA than in the wars!-- Yeah. More overblown exaggerations, sounds like my 80 year old dad sitting around with his cronies at Hardees drinking coffee. All the usual griping about "world's going to HE LL in a Hand basket! Weren't like this back in OUR day!!!!" then shaking of heads and generally agreeing with one another that THEY had it all figured out and today nobody knows anything. Right. Ok. Sure. If it makes you feel better, no problem.

I especially like the first post "story" that started it all off. Talk about a red herring. Compare apples to apples, not apples to corn on the cob.

1-Here's where it all falls apart first. Guy with the Vette may or may not have an accident. It's just a maybe. EVERYONE is going to get sick. Guaranteed. The only thing that is not known is how bad, how often and for how long.

The rest of it isn't worth talking about after the first and most obvious fundamental flaw in the whole presentation.
