Pennsylvania Democrat Mike Doyle, who earns $174,000 as a U.S. Representative, told Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that he was glad to see that ObamaCare would subsidize their self-employed son’s health care premiums…which he and his wife pay. It was during a recent House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing that the Congressman stated that his son, who pays a mere $140/month for Blue Cross health insurance, would receive a subsidy via the government-run healthcare website. Of course this begs the question as to why Doyle and his wife are paying premiums for their 33-year old adult son. But also, here’s a couple who is earning $174,000 per year just from Mr. Doyle’s salary and the American taxpayers are going to essentially subsidize Mr. and Mrs. Doyle’s charity towards their son. Doyle complained about the cumbersome process of using the website to Secretary Sebelius, grumbling that is was difficult to use and that, regarding their son, “we had to prod him to go on that site and enroll.” He went on to say that young people, apparently like his 33-year old son, are “not going to do it unless it’s easy.”

If the guy was giving $50000 a year to his church, would you frame that as "the taxpayer subsidizing his charity to his church?" If he decided to spend $100000 on a sports car, would you call that "taxpayer subsidizing his purchase of a luxury car?"

If there is one lesson yesterday's VA Governor's race taught us, let it be this; the real fight is not the Republicans versus the Democrats but the crony elitists versus the American people. Are you saying, the crony capitalists have infiltrated the republican party? News flash, they have infiltrated the democratic party also. Your tea party was stupid to join the republicans. It has made them untrustworthy and ineffective. They would have been better of to combine with the occupy movement and libertarians. You know they aren't controlled by the elitists. They may have had policy problems, but they wouldn't have the big money elitist controlling them. What's good for the country is a balance of these three organizations anyway.

The Tea Party IS the infiltration by capitalists and big business into the Republican party. The game when you start to lose the popular vote is to keep enough traction to stave off change for as long as possible.

If you are steaming along, taking ground, kicking butt and taking names and its all going your way, you keep going. When you finally run out of steam and forward progress stops, you do whatever it takes to keep from losing ground and getting pushed backwards.

Republicans are no longer in favor, their "trickle down" theory is bust, it's over. The nation sees the playing field is tilted in favor of the wealthy, tax code lets the wealthy pay less, corporate welfare subsidizes and funds projects that help the wealthy get wealthier, the whole game is played by the rich for the rich and middle America by electing Obama sent a clear message that we weren't going to let it continue.

Don't forget that if Obama got his way, the wealthy would be paying a lot more in taxes, the stimulus would have been more, Obamacare would not exist but Single payer would be the law of the land, etc. NONE of this favors the RICH.

So saying both parties are owned by wealthy elites is partially true, but not all wealthy elites see things the same way. Some see their mission is to get and keep as much as they can and stomp on everyone else, however others do not see that as good for them or America.

If you look at what Obama would have done left to his own agenda completely, we would have a far different country 5 years in than we have. He has been stopped on just about every front by wealthy elites protecting their own interests, mainly through the Tea Party in the House.

So I do not agree that a vote for a Dem or a Republican is a vote for someone bought and paid for by wealthy America. Sure, it takes money to get elected, but Obama had more grass roots $50 donors to get him in office than he did corporate backers. He has, however, been stopped by corporate America through their astroturf Tea Party crap that has hoodwinked many Americans into supporting what is not in their interests.

I just see the Tea Party as a great foil to what middle America wants and would get if not for the Tea Party in the House stalling and sabotaging every move to reign in the power and influence of corporate America and the wealthy elites.

I think money influences both sides, but the Republicans court it way more than the Dems, and most Dem policies do NOT advance the agenda of corporate America. So its hard to make a case that Obama is beholden to big money, when a lot of what he would do if he could does not favor the status quo.
