[QUOTE=t.nie;1963128]I am more upset about the latest same sex marriage decision and the funding of planned parenthood than I am about the majority of the baseless, faceless opinions expressed by Mr. Ewart.

If you are, then why not express it and call out these people and organizations for their actual wrongdoing instead of spending an entire thread trying to discredit a conservative writer. I'm sure Mr. Ewart and you are in total agreement about planned parenthood and same sex marriages.

Perfect but simple question, dirtman!.....If we would ask that question of ourselves, we would have far less problems in this country!

I answered your question in the rest of my remarks from the post you quote above. I guess you choose to ignore my reasoning for not supporting Mr Ewart, or anyone for that matter, who simply push their hate filled propaganda while heading organizations they start to fulfill this mission and then create websites to give them a vehicle to reach the masses.

I will make this really simple. If you are wasting your time, effort, thoughts and energy pursuing this fantasy that the government is what ills this nation and just getting the "wrong folks out" and "the right folks in" will fix everything, I think that's missing what the real problem is.

We live in a fallen world, filled with sin and chaos that came into this world when a bite was taken out of an apple. The government is neither the cause nor the solution to this problem. Our own nature is.

Simply put, if we as Christians want to make a difference, we ought not be pursuing agendas that mimic those of the people in this fallen world. We should be reaching out with love and compassion, not "calling out" those we disagree with, thinking that if we can just embarrass, humiliate or cast enough dispersion on them they will see their evil ways and change.

This does not bring people to Christ. It does not even look like Christ. It looks like we are getting pulled into the Devil's game, playing by his rules, and instead of bringing more people to the fold, we push them away with our pointing fingers and insults.

The Devil loves it when Christians point fingers and hate one each other and those we dislike. He especially loves it when we use our faith as our justification to hate people. Funnily enough, that is exactly the opposite of Christ. Christ hung on a cross and asked his Father to forgive the people that brutalized him and hung him there, and people like Mr. Ewart think they are so righteous and pious that they can call out everyone else for their sins, according to Mr. Ewart, yet he offers no olive branch of forgiveness, only his wrath and judgement on everyone else he wants to blame.

I pray people like him see they are not presenting Christ in the way Christ presented himself. I cannot for one moment see Jesus writing anything like this or starting an organization like this. I don't see Jesus anywhere on those pages.

I REFUSE to go there. And I will stand for what's right, which isn't playing the blame game and pushing propaganda to convince everyone that Obama is the Devil and the government is the enemy. The government is not the enemy, and Obama is neither Devil nor Saint. But he IS the elected leader of our nation, and the Bible tells us to live under the authority of our leaders as GOD put them over us for HIS reasons, and we don't always get to know his reasons. Nor should we question his reasons.

Like I have told you now, numerous times, you are FREE to CHOOSE whom you serve. But when you say in one breath these things about faith and being a Christian, and then turn around in the next breath and let loose a blast of hot, volatile, hate filled language ranting about everything wrong with this country and laying the blame on the leader GOD chose for us, you don't speak for me as a Christian. Far from it.

But, even in Phillipians, the Bible tells us that while some may preach the gospel for their own selfish motives, it doesn't matter what the motive is of the speaker, what matters is that people are given the opportunity to hear the gospel. And God uses everyone, sinners, unbelievers, believers, everyone to accomplish his will.

I genuinely wish you all the best. But we are going to disagree on what the proper response is to government, political activism, etc. I don't believe any good comes from focusing on it, and I don't believe a Christian should be focused on it to the point of it detracting from their witness for Christ. If what you are doing and saying is turning people away, if the message of Christ is second to the message of hating your government, blaming the president, putting the ills of our nation before serving God, then no, we are never going to agree.

But again, I wish you all the best. And its not that I disagree with some of the principles. The Bible is clear about same sex relationships, about abortion. But it is just as clear about loving your neighbor as yourself and loving your enemies and asking for blessing for those that persecute you, and not taking matters into your own hands and trying to right what you perceive as wrong. It's about reaching out with love and compassion to people, not ranting and raving against them.

I just think that when you put it out there the way Ewart does, it is causing dissension, discord, and division. And there is nothing "Christ like" in that.

There is a band out there called Casting Crowns. They have this band philosophy that they are never going to preach against anyone or anyone's behavior or lifestyle. They are simply going to say "we believe God has a better way, and here is God's way. You can choose it if you want to."

Much like Christ, who didn't rail against anyone or anything, he just repeatedly offered people his way. It was always "its up to you to choose, but I offer this." Not "look at how terrible everyone else is." I hope to live like that.

tnie You are making good points, but yet seem to condemn conservative views and support liberal, socialist, and even Communistic movements, and causes. I disagree with you on that part.

It's your directing your assault on someone like Mr. Ewart who I personally don't see as a divider, but more of an informing and enlightening person. Yet I don't see ANY pointing out of people like our president who is one of the most divisive people in the world who is abusing his position of power to divide this nation up into groups of oppressed, and his government is the one that can, will, should, be the ones to FIX it.

But its not "his" government. If memory serves me correctly, he's just one guy. And he has to negotiate with the Senate and the House, and the House has been completely out of his control, or anyone's for that matter, for almost as long as he has sat in the Oval office.

It's easy to point a finger at one guy and say he's the divider, but when the people on the other side of the divide are no less cooperative, compromising or reasonable, it's hard to say he's the only problem. The Tea Party (Freedom Caucus) has never given an inch on anything. All it has been is a single minded, no compromise NO! from day one of their election. They banded together, said they were not going to compromise or cooperate and took the nation hostage to their demands.

I don't agree with everything Obama does, or liberals, or conservatives or Republicans, or Democrats, or tree huggers, or progressives, etc. I think they are all pretty much going in their own wrong directions one way or another.

But I find it hard to blame it all on one side and give the other a pass. And when I weight it up, it sure looks to me like its been olive branch after olive branch but because NONE of the olive branches were complete surrender to the demands of one small, extremely disciplined and loyal unit of folks called the Freedom Caucus, nothing gets done. And yet the accusation gets made continually that "its Obama who is the divider, Obama who dictates, Obama who won't give an inch."

Part of being a Christian, to me, is seeking truth and while it may not be what I want to hear, it's still truth. And honest people with integrity will say Obama has done harm to this nation, but he hasn't been what some people have made him out to be either. And the whole "he's the only problem, he's divisive" accusations don't pass muster when weighed against facts. I think he has been willing to compromise, but he has been met with the worst group of unreasonable and uncompromising people we have probably ever seen elected in America.

It is his government in a sense that like minded people put him there and he has decided to dictate his own laws and not enforce Constitutional laws.

As far as compromising, I have not seen ANY evidence of that. Can there really be compromise when the goals of Communism IS Communism?

T.nie.....I think what you are seeing from most people is RIGHTEOUS anger. We, as Christians, are so tired of seeing our rights and principles trashed just about every day. True, some people go overboard, and cant distinguish between the sin or the sinner.

However, Jesus did rail against certain groups of people in the Bible. He called out the Pharisees and Sadducees many times over their "religion". People would be wise to study Jesus' sayings to them condemning their lifestyle. Just because people go to church, do good things, and/or live good, does NOT make them a Christian (I'm sure you know this). What about the moneychangers in the Temple? Jesus ran them out with a whip and had very harsh words for them also. Theres nothing wrong with righteous anger, one should rejoice that they have it!

I do have 1 question for you. You have said several times, Conservatives should compromise. What do you mean by that? I'll never willingly compromise my Biblical standards to agree with a liberal.

On the first statement we are going to disagree. It appears you acknowledge that he won the election, and in our democracy, majority is supposed to rule. So that would mean that instead of completely refusing to compromise with him, the opposition should at least be willing to give in to the will of the majority of "like minded people of the USA" who elected him.

What has happened instead is the wealthy folks of our nation figured out that you don't need the Presidency to run the show, you just have to faction the majority party into two parts, one of which will say no to anything the other side proposes, then hold that small group's feet to the fire. Its like, it doesn't take a catastrophic failure to bring a factory to a standstill, just one extremely well placed screwdriver in some gears and the whole thing stops. This Freedom Caucus is that extremely well placed screwdriver in the gears of our nation's capitol. And it has worked for the last 6 years.

And I don't see anything "unconstitutional" about what he has done on executive orders. What he does is exactly what other president's before him have done. And yes, there are certain times he pushes the envelope on executive action, because he has no other option when trying to do "the will of the people" who elected him. He is in this position of having to face a strategic opposition that doesn't rely on compromise and "majority rules, even when I am in the minority" mentality, but instead relies on manipulation of what exists to create obstacles that cannot be overcome in the traditional historical manner.

So he does what anyone else would do if they genuinely want to carry out the agenda they were elected to pursue by the will of the majority of like minded people. He uses existing authority in new ways. And sometimes that ends up in court, and sometimes he finds out no, you can't do that, it's unconstitutional. But when he does some of what he does, he doesn't know if it is or not, because no President has tried to do it before.

It's basically "well, who knows if this is legal or not, but let's do it, let it get challenged and then the court will have to make a decision." That's how our government works. But I'm not going to jump to calling him some dirtbag for trying to do things in any way he can to achieve the will of the majority of like minded people who elected him. That's his job. And in this day and age, when faced with a completely uncompromising Freedom Caucus that is the Tail Wagging the Dog in congress, we are going to see some new solutions to problems because the traditional compromise way is not available. Not by Obama's doing, but by the doings of other people in opposition.

Which is why I say he has tried the compromise route. He and Boehner apparently had a historic budget agreement negotiated that would put the nation on better financial footing for many years to come. All Boehner had to do was whip the votes on his side and get it approved, the Democrats were lined up to sign up and the President was waiting with his pen for it to come back.

It fell apart as soon as the Freedom Caucus was told the terms. No. No. No. No. NO. We aren't signing off on anything that raises a penny in taxes. We will only agree to cuts. End of story. No compromise.

Which answers someone else's question about when have the Dems compromised. On that huge budget deal for a start. They were agreeing to cuts in SS and Medicare, and no Dem would ever want to see those things cut a nickel. But they would do it, in exchange for increases in revenue elsewhere. The whole thing didn't fall apart because of "Christian Principles." It fell apart because these guys in the Freedom Caucus signed off on some pledge of allegiance to Grover Nordqvist and The United Corporate States of America and that was it. Forget the will of the majority of like minded people, the answer is no. Our corporate dignitaries don't want their taxes raised, they pay our bills, so no. We won't vote for taxes on them. And the rest of the USA can shove it.

So again, I respectfully disagree with your statements. And I don't think the logic and reasoning people use to arrive at those conclusions is an honest or reasonable interpretation of fact. I think it is having the opinion that you hate the guy, and then taking anything and everything he says and does and figuring out how to frame him as something he is not with it.

No. Not a great president. But he did get us out of two wars for the most part. He has reduced the deficit. Unemployment is down to half of what it was when he came into office. Gas prices are reasonable enough again.

Of course, when all of these things were going bad, it was all his fault. But now that there has been progress in the right direction, his detractors will figure out a way to say it's in spite of him, not because of him. To do anything else would be giving the guy some credit for something and that's not allowed.

I think in most ways he is neither responsible for it going either way. Economies recover. Gas goes up and down. There at some point is nothing left to fight over, unless you are on a land grabbing crusade, and we never were. So most of this would happen naturally over the course of time anyway, regardless of who is in office.

Planned parenthood needs to be defunded across the board. I know the intricacies of the law, and no federal money is funding abortion. But lets get rid of the organization that offers abortion. How about, better still, let's reach out in love and compassion to everyone around us and if someone makes a mistake, gets pregnant, lets love and help her every day so that she doesn't feel like killing her baby is the only option she has left. That she has hope. Christ would. That eliminates the NEED for abortion clinics. No abortion clinic would exist if no woman felt she needed that as an option. Imagine that. Take away the need for the abortion clinic and watch them all go away. We can do more to make abortion go away by loving our neighbor as ourself and doing good to those who persecute us than by being an activist and campaigning to shut down the clinic.

Shutting down the liquor store doesn't stop alcoholism. Why do we think shutting down the clinics will eliminate the desire for an abortion?

Same sex marriage. Well. That we didn't have to recognize. Rainbow white house? More fool you. That kind of thing just made this nation look 1-finally moving into the 21st century to the rest of the western world but 2-wow, another sign that Christ is not running the show and the Devil is still winning. As he will continue to, until Christ comes again.

I just see my role as a Christian in this world to be an advocate for the Gospel. Not a political activist trying to slow down the progression of more and more sin in this world, but to reach out to individual sinners with love and compassion and tell them "there is a better way, you can have peace and understanding and be loved just the way you are by a Savior who really wants to you to know Him and be saved from this fallen world and our own sinful nature."

And while campaigns and activism and being anti-government may appeal to our human nature that revolts against all authority, especially authority we see as not behaving as authority should, the Bible tells us to do all things as though we are serving God, and the most important thing is to love God and to love our neighbors as ourself. To recognize that our leadership is there by the grace of God, to render unto Caesar what is Caesars, not to be a grumbling complaining lot but to rejoice in the Lord.

We have a pretty great country. I got up today, had a nice home, good food, warmth, shelter, all my needs met and I am free to speak openly about my faith and debate politics with my fellow citizens. All in all, it's a good day. I have nothing to complain about, I am very blessed and thankful.

I do not acknowledge that he won the election. I will acknowledge that winning and stealing are two different things. You seem totally confident that he honestly won the election. And with that we don't agree.

And the Freedom Caucus may seem bad to you, but to many we see it as reform in the RIGHT direction and a return to Constitutional values. You don't like the Freedom Caucus? Well there are many liberals, socialists, Communists, Fascists, etc. that agree with you. So you sure are in good company.
