Mikey Waltrip loves the plate racing, say what you want, but he is pretty good at it...
That's because Mikey took Sr advice and that was you have to be on NASCAR side so they give you a bigger restrictor plate. Lol

Mikey Waltrip needed to be good at something and I reckon restrictor plate racing was his calling. Problem is they only race at Daytona and Talladega 4 times a year. Please point out the drivers who have admitted to liking r-plate racing. I'm genuinely curious. No over analysis, just sayin' that no one can win a r-plate race without help from at least 1 other car, usually it takes 2 or 3. And, it is very dangerous. Larson was only pointing out the obvious. Racing that is contingent upon having another car's help to win goes against every logical premise that defines the term "racing".

Let me guess, you believe in Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and that a groundhog in Pennsylvania can predict the weather 6 weeks in advance! LOL! All that is just as plausible as believing that the powers that be in NASCAR cannot be bought and influenced and never have been. Mud, even you can't be that gullible and naive.

What did Santa bring ya' for Christmas, Mud?

Common sense, something he obviously didn't bring to yours....

What does NASCAR have to gain, verses the risk of getting caught "helping" another team.... the risk/reward just isn't there....

If you believe that there never has been any bending of the rules and inconsistencies in punishment from one driver or team to another then Santa, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny and Punxsutawney Phil's ability to predict the weather are no doubt very real in your personal psyche. Suggesting that you believe in the aforementioned mythical entities and NASCAR's ethics is a much more pleasant analogy than suggesting you're a fool so I won't do that.

I can name at least 5 well known incidents chapter and verse that leave little, if any, doubt that exceptions were made in favor of one driver in particular (and a few others). There were drivers and car owners that went public with their well founded suspicions from time to time and they are far more believable and have far more credibility than your pie in the sky conclusions. Who ya' gonna' believe? Actual incidents and people closest to the situation or your lyin' eyes?

Be sure to keep those glasses on, they are essential if you're going to attempt to condone and defend some of NASCAR's past indiscretions.

How about when the teams started to comparing notes about the way the plates were individually numbered and there were a set of 5 numbers that everybody that hadn't won {other than due to a late accident or flat tire to the dominate car} never ever received when the plates were supposed to be randomly passed out? What does that tell you ?

Mud, now remain calm! LOL! Stop rolling your eyes or they could stick that way!

Rigged it too strong of a word. Even the most pollyanna minded fan would have to concur that there have been times when the rules have been much more stridently enforced and the punishment much more severe for some teams than for others. It's not a case of NASCAR rigging the races it's more a case of tolerance in rules enforcement done in a selective manner.

For instance, 2 teams had the winner of the 1998 Daytona 500 dead to rights speeding on pit road on his last pit stop. That helped put the eventual winner out front for good. This is documented in Ed Hinton's book about racing at Daytona. In those days pit road speed calls were arbitrarily enforced similar to balls and strikes in baseball. Just little things that have the potential to work for this team or that team are all we're talking about. So come down off the ledge, it's gonna' be OK! LOL!

Mud, I agree it does sound pretty ridiculous but, it does make one wonder especially how close Sr was to Bill France Jr. I wouldn't put it past him to keep his boy in the lime light. Sr sold tickets and tickets = MONEY.

I agree 100% ! We all know that the competitors agree with the yellows that are throw for a Kleenex tissue laying on the track or a yellow for a water bottle laying on the track for 60 laps etc. They always agree with the speeding penalties certain teams get even though the in car telemetry and radar guns prove different. Or how a yellow flag keeps flying on each restart at the end of a race until the dominate car all day runs out of fuel on the 506 mile in a 500 mile race. Or how a car can run 5 more laps than anyone else on fuel mileage and still have enough left to burn the rear tires off the car on the way to victory lane. Another favorite is on the restarts where 1 guy gets penalized for restarting in the same exact place on the track where another did on 3 prior restarts. Does anyone of the few that still watch and believe in that farce of racing remember what P.T. Barnum said over a century ago? LOL !
