Steve Kinser was runner up once and ran 3rd twice in 5 total starts. Not sure what that has to do with anything. I suspect that Kinser at some point got too big to get fitted into a midget, but I don't know that for a fact. Sammy Swindell, on the other hand, has qualified for the Saturday A-main 23 of the 30 years and has won it 5 times and finished 2nd 4 times. Doug Wolfgang made the Saturday A-main twice, as well.
How does that compare with other Crown Jewell dirt races? I'm thinkin' maybe the Knoxville Sprint Car Nationals is the only other race that is in the same league. The difference between the Knoxville Nationals and The Chili Bowl is CB pays a fraction in comparison. The overall prestige and national exposure is the allure and it's second to none and it can be a career maker.
