well the gimmick is not helping kidrock young people don't care for tradional(sp) sports anymore college and even high school attendance is down too many distractions now a days then you got tracks like highland that has dropped some but still doing strong Tri city is getting better after some rough times

Well no gimmicks as you call it in dirt track racing but, yet their down in attendance.
Just for someone to say that is causing the decline to me is foolish but, hey good debate and for I've said my piece and don't know what more I need to say to make my point. You guys have made your point and I have made mine doesn't make either one of right or wrong just our opinions.

Yes their attendance is down because its a traditional sport young people today are too worried about their phones also plus too late of nights don't help either Highland does well because they run their headliner first

Yes most of the shows you have to have been specials I'm talking about weekly shows. And yes some are doing better then others I agree with that but, what it used to be. I know FALS is a great run track but, they themselves have had a decline to what it used to be. Macon same thing. Other tracks have not faired as well my whole point is most all motor sports are down and not just because of a chase points systems.

Are you sure about FALS and Macon crowds being off for weekly shows? I don't go to Macon for many regular shows but we get over to FALS a couple of times a season for their weekly shows and I'd say the attendance is up from what it was even 10 years ago. Can't prove it, just going by memory.

Granted, the late model shows we go to at Macon are specials but the POWRi shows have become pretty much run of the mill and both the late model specials and the POWRi shows are better attended than they were 15 or 18 years ago. I realize POWRi didn't exist 18 years ago but I'm speaking of the midget races run under USAC and MARA sanctions at that time.

As far as the civil part, we've gone back and forth for a quite a while on a variety of subjects without getting uncivil. You don't make a habit of getting personal, at least not with me and I go out of my way to treat like I'm treated. I too, respect that. I'd like to think I live by the motto "don't start no sh!t, won't be no sh!t".

Racing in general is down. All types, I believe for multiple reasons. Affordability, Having to work more for less, less vacation time. Less gear heads in general, less interest in cars and motorsports. Look how hard it is too find a good auto mechanic now days. Easier to watch on TV, and cheaper.
A big one is aging population. Look how old an average race fan is, that attends at racing. Dirt track, drag racing, nascar so on. Its going to remain a problem. I continue to go and have been to local Dirt races, crown jewels, Nhra, and nascar, Lucas oil tractor/truck pulls, and I don't see young folks there. I help a guy with his go-kart racing, and the number of kids racing is down there as well.
Now I do see many young folks at supercross events. I think the extreme sports and nature of those events interest younger folks. Although I never been to a monster truck event, I believe young kid attend them in droves. I remember when I was young. Indy 500 was huge. Folks planned there day around that race. Not so anymore. Nascar starting season, means that dirt racing is close.

The POWRi shows are always well attended, the late model depends on what show your talking about. Summer Nats and now Lucas different story they are always well attended. Now as far as FALS I'm only going by what my brother tells me about Fals. He said that's why they are having bigger shows to offset the weekly shows. Now what I will say about Fals is they pay better for their weekly shows then most tracks so, they need more fans. By no means am I saying they are not doing good because they are but, their weekly numbers are not what they used to be but, any track would love to have what they have on a bad night.

I was in Vegas Thursday, we raced as support for the WOO Sprints, It is absolutely astounding the number of people you see walking and starring at their phones.... It is amazing.. I too check mine every hour or so, but I don't stare at it constantly as I walk through the pits...Just amazing...

Bbqb, I used to wish NASCAR could turn the corner and maybe learn from their mistakes. At some point we realized they keep doubling down on what isn't working and probably will never work to bring the fans and good racing back to big time stock car racing. Since they resist learning from their mistakes whatever happens to them now they brought on themselves and it appears they will never again be the very proud and respected sanction. At this point, fine by me.

However, I must admit that it is saddening to watch the gradual implosion of the last decade or so after having discovered and followed NASCAR & USAC stock car racing from the age of 8 years.

I watched USAC stock car racing do a relatively slow and painful descension to irrelevance because of mismanagement, apathy and money. I don't believe NASCAR will match the fate of USAC stock cars but they get less relevant every day.

Personally, I thought it was a pretty good race, remember, its paved... they don't get super exciting anyways...LOL
