The interesting thing is Drivers and how they are paid by owners now. Jr talked about it yesterday. I can't find Daytona 500 purse anywhere. Interesting because it's the highest paid race all year. Jayski also has Biffle talking contract as well.

They are not going to make purses available this year because of the incentive money paid through the charter system is what I read

You realize that Wood Brothers weren't the only ones affected here don't you? JGR didn't get one for Carl in the 19 car because he wasn't eligible under the rules... this is being applied fairly as best I can see...

And do you realize that Gibbs purchased a charter from former MWR owner Rob Kauffman for the 19 car and SHR purchased the other one for the 41 car so the high powered teams just buy their way in and the ball just keeps rolling, I just have to wonder what is nascar's cut in all oft this you know they are going to benefit off of this somehow.

I'm in Daytona right now and just got done listening to WNDB which is the local MRN affiliate. They have a NASCAR talk show on every night of the week leading up to the Daytona 500. We're on our way back to the Wife's parents house from Volusia Speedway Park and while listening to tonight's edition of NASCAR talk radio one of the show anchors said the Daytona 500 is completely sold out. In the next breath he said that the recently completed grandstand renovation effectively eliminated a tick over 50,000 seats in the process. I almost ran off the road laughin'!

Only NASCAR could crown a bogus champion of what is supposed to be their premier division and then 3 months later boast about a sellout of their premier race after doing away with 50,000 seats.

It seems amazing that we have some folks that can rationalize NASCAR disregarding their own rules to facilitate a guy to win the championship that missed 1/3 of the races but refuses to waive a rule that would allow a charter to one of the most important and successful operations in the history of the sport.

And how is that anyone's fault but Wood Brothers? They were the folks that decided to run part time.... NASCAR doesn't dictate who has to and don't have to race, but they certainly can reward those the do...How is that not fair?

Who cares, your a hater... and if they were that successful, they wouldn't have had problems getting sponsors all those years that they ran partial seasons...

Obviously you care, you responded! LOL!!

Isn't it once again ironic that you try to label me and so viciously deride poor ol' me as a hater and in the next breath viciously deride the Wood Brothers as unsuccessful and irrelevant but don't think of yourself as a hater? Hmmmm.

Hmmm. Had the Wood Brothers been more successful they wouldn't have had problems getting sponsors? That's pretty vicious, isn't it?

My bone headed approach to NASCAR is shared by over 10 million television fans and a few million attendees that no longer pay any attention to the gimmicked up 2016 version. Bone headed? Maybe to some of you, but a view shared by lots and lots of former fans. And right there folks, is a point that cannot be disputed.
