Here's the deal, NASCAR spent 400 million dollars on Daytona.... I think, they think they'll get there money back, and I bet they do.... so tell me you NASCAR h8rs, which of you have the 400 million to redue your favorite grandstand at your track... oh wait, none you got a track, or a grandstand or probably even a race car.... How many billion did NASCAR get for the rights to show NASCAR on the tube? What was that number again, you know, to the sport no one ever watches any more? LOL you guys are a joke... Like Kid, I don't care about the politics and the money or the ratings, I care about the racing....

I'm probly more like you than you think, mud! I was born in that great city cuz my dad was on Ray Fox's cup team. Heck, my dad bought 1000 shares of stock in 1959, so you could say my family was an original investor (lol). I really think since Brian took over, he's trying to appease a new class of fans and has forgot the fans that got him there. No one has brought this up, but NASCAR sponsored a lot of local tracks, through regional point system, not too long ago. Our local track was a piece of crap and the owners treated people like crap, but the racers still raced for those NASCAR points. It was really a big deal to them.

Nascar has seemed to forget about all that and are after a NEW fan base. We don't want some fancy pantsy Chase. We want a driver to earn his points through 36 races and let the best man win! I don't need to be entertained, the PURE racing is entertainment enough for me. I know its a cliché, but I bet Bill Sr and Bill Jr are rolling over in their graves at what their beloved NASCAR has become!

Meanwhile, there was a 50 lap dirt race, the night before, that ran green the whole race, and the winner only won by .056 secs. Not only did I watch every lap, but I've watched it twice more since then! Now, THAT was real racing!

Yes that was a good race but, they never ran side side for about 150 laps at 200 miles per hour.

I've watch plenty of late model races that were nothing more then train races and most of the heat races are not even worth watching and I'm sure you have been to or watch those races yourself

I'll tell you a true story from a racer and let you decide! One of my best friends has raced about everything on asphalt, and decided to run the Goody's Dash series. So him and his dad bought a top of the line car out of the Carolinas and went to Daytona for their first race.

He's all nervous not knowing what to expect but jumps into practice headfirst. He falls in line behind one of the veterans and runs the whole practice with no problems. He does the same thing the next day. His lap times are in the top 10 so hes confident he'll make the show. Well, qualifying got rained out and as he was a newbie he didn't make the race

I asked him about it some time later and he said. That was the boringest racing I have ever done. I was running 162mph but could not pass unless I had help. You simply put the gas pedal to the floor and keep it there and drag the brakes if you need to. It was like riding in a freight train.

That's the same thing, they are doing now, and you call that RACING! No way!
(I will say this, I don't think there is a good answer to their racing. We have to keep those cars on the ground and cant allow them to get in the stands. I recently read where an engineer said they would be running laps at 250mph with an unrestricted engine and we wont be able to keep them on the ground)

Don't get me wrong, I would rather they bring back the days of the slingshot now that was fun to watch but, my point is I've seen plenty of boring racing in the dirt world as I have seen in NASCAR. Vice verses I've seen some dam good racing in both.
When I watch NASCAR I not only watch the race but everything else that goes with from pit strategy ect ect.

Yeah it's not that a rookie couldn't get lucky and win but, their chances are slim.

Alright listen mud and myself get it you guys don't like the chase. I have said I like the old format better but, I'm not against the chase. It has put some excitement into the last 10 races.

Plus if you don't watch why do you care????

Watch it more I thought you didn't watch it at all, I knew you watch it. Just like a lot of other guys who say they don't watch it at least Mud and I are not afraid to say we watch it.
Oh so since they don't race for points the old way you don't watch it whatever. Who gives a rats azz about points or who the champion is.

At least it has made it more interesting the last 10 races but, you wouldn't know that because you don't watch it lol. Hey where is my free stuff I haven't received it yet this month and I'm starting to get pissed.

Well, sadly your wrong.... you are going to die..it happens to all of us, with what is available to the younger people, NASCAR can no longer just have a "race" it has to be an "event"... there has to be a reason for the younger fan to show up, whether its for the facility, the live music along with the race or what ever... times change and NASCAR has to change a little to keep up...sorry all you fuddy daddy's get all butt hurt... try watching the race for just that, the race..... kid is right, all the BS doesn't count, its for the race...

Question for you older Nascar fans!......Don't you think Nascar stayed in touch better with their fans, when they sponsored all the regional and local tracks through their points system? Of, course that was done away with when Brian took over!
