Well, sadly your wrong.... you are going to die..it happens to all of us, with what is available to the younger people, NASCAR can no longer just have a "race" it has to be an "event"... there has to be a reason for the younger fan to show up, whether its for the facility, the live music along with the race or what ever... times change and NASCAR has to change a little to keep up...sorry all you fuddy daddy's get all butt hurt... try watching the race for just that, the race..... kid is right, all the BS doesn't count, its for the race...

that's ok with I will take the short tracks over that garbage any day of the week and twice on Sunday

Question for you older Nascar fans!......Don't you think Nascar stayed in touch better with their fans, when they sponsored all the regional and local tracks through their points system? Of, course that was done away with when Brian took over!

That's a good question. I remember well the days when there were NASCAR sanctioned dirt tracks all around the country. The dirt track divisions of NASCAR never seemed to be a feeder system to the national levels. The drivers from that era were more from the asphalt late models and the USAC Silver Crown, sprint car and midget divisions. USAC still sends quite a few drivers to NASCAR. See Rico and Christopher Bell.

Being a racer in that day when NASCAR was all over the local tracks, from the outside looking in it looked pretty rosy but it added a lot of cost for the weekly racer...even in my day, the pit fee's at the NASCAR tracks were triple than at the non NASCAR tracks, however there were national points systems but unless you chases all over three states, you didn't have a snowballs chance in hell at winning that... even though it cost us a bunch, it probably wasn't feasible cost wise to continue.

To give you a for instance... we went to race in Watsonville Ca which was a NASCAR track, it cost us 21 dollars a person to get in the pits (I was the driver at the time) and I had to pay the 21 plus 45 to be a temp member of NACSAR... Our normal pit entrance charge as 7 dollars... what I got out of the 45 dollars was a patch, a rule book and a certificate...

Yep! To have areal chance at winning the Natl points you had to race more than once a week. In my area, there was 1 dirt track and 1 asphalt track so the locals didn't stand much of a chance. But the racers loved it. Our local dirt track was a piece of crap and the owners,too, but the racers loved racing for those points!

Our pit pass was $20 for members and $25 for non. BTW, you forgot we always got a NASCAR lapel pin!

You are correct about that lapel pin, I do believe I still have mine, just gotta remember where I saw it the last time.... oha and our pit passes are now $40 and $45 at most tracks and $30 and $35 at a couple....

i believe you will see it get down to 35 eventually. This eliminates the start and park guys. I'm wondering if they did this so they won't have to pay those who used to start and park. Just curious.

Just think those were the guys that were barley making it to the track week to week

Kind of reminds you of car counts in other forms of motor racing car counts are going down.

You are right they expect before long only 35 to 37 cars each week they seem to like weeding the small lower budget teams out I just don't get it but I guess its their on demise.
